[AI] Notice on parking for disabled

2014-03-27 Thread vivek doddamani
NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Wednesday issued a notice to the
city government and civic agencies on a plea seeking direction to
provide parking space to the physically challenged near the entrances
of public buildings.

Acting Chief Justice B D Ahmed and Justice Sidharth Mridul asked the
Delhi government, the civic bodies, traffic police, the police
commissioner and DDA to file responses by May 26.

A PIL filed by Vinod Kumar Bansal, a social worker through advocates
Anupam Srivastava and Sitab Ali Chaudhary, said parking spaces should
be provided to the physically challenged in line with the Master Plan
Delhi 2021. The plea sought the court's direction to the Delhi
government and civic agencies to install auditory signals at red
lights on public roads for physically handicapped.

The plea further sought directions to make pavements
wheelchair-friendly. Footpaths, pavements and public roads are laid
only for the purpose for passing through by the pedestrians / vehicles
and are also meant for passage only and for no other purpose or
business but the shopkeepers are misusing the footpaths, pavements and
to some extent roads in Delhi, the PIL said.

It points out that footpaths and pavements are constructed for free
and safe passage for and by the pedestrians. However, authorities have
ignored their duty to regulate, maintain and control the free flow of
traffic and of the general public at large

2008-08-24 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Well, one of the conditions for contesting the election of Karnataka NFB READS
AS UNDER:

The Contestant for any post should not be in a elected office of any other
organization of and for the Blinds.

I am told the same is the case throughout India, don't you think this is
undemocratic and exclusivist tendency?

I am also told the proposal is the brainchild of some all time influential
leader of NFB to preserve monopoly!

Well, be that as it may, is the election or any other functions of such august
bodies an event worth being present at in Karnataka?

At least in Maharashtra, it is not. they indulge in all sorts of obnoxious
practices expected of political bodies here including showing off, dicident and
rebel groups claiming legitimacy for them abusing and fighting in open and
boozing and what not?

Don't think I am an unsatisfied member of any of these loathsome entities.

I believe in diksonian maxim of philanthropy being an individual affair and
loath all organizations alike.

Any organization, I believe, does anything worthwhile only due to a handful of
dedicated individuals who, whether organization or not, would do their bid.

Rajesh
