Subject: request to submit a letter to RCI for the introduction of
short term course for existing teachers on special education of the
blind - regarding.
Dear Sir,
I K. Srinivas the 100% blind working as a teacher in the school
education department of Telangana state. I would like to submit the
following for kind consideration of the office-bearers of unions
associations of the blind in this platform and needful action at the
earliest.
At present we the visually impaired are successfully studying unlike
cited people the academic courses from KG to PG even PHD. Professional
courses like DED, B ed LLB, LLM, MBA, MCA, and so on.
The government is taking the necessary steps to provide education to
visually impaired children. As part of this, the government is running
special schools for boys and girls with complete visual impairment as
well as inclusive education for the partially blind students in
general schools. However, the partially blind students who are
studying in normal schools are unable to get quality education due to
lack of special trained teachers. The teachers working in normal
schools are not known the special education of the blind. Because
there is no compulsory paper on special education of the blind in
normal teacher training courses like D ed and B ed.
At present the special education courses which are being offered by
the various universities (regular or distance) are not helpful and
useful to the teachers working in normal schools. Because these
courses are 2 years long term courses. A teacher who has already
completed teacher training is reluctant to receive this training for
two years.
There is a strong need for introduction of 1 month or 2 months short
term course for existing teachers on special education of the blind
(regular and distance). Why because:
For successful implementation of inclusive education.
Short-term special education courses of one or two months duration are
required to be introduced for teachers in order for the inclusive
education system to be successful and for the visually impaired boys
and girls attending general school to receive quality education.
With the introduction of the Short-term special education courses of
one or two months duration as many teachers as possible working in the
general school can be trained on special education of the blind.
With the introduction of one-month or two-month short-term courses,
more and more teachers will voluntarily come forward to do these
courses.
Moreover subjects like psychology, philosophy and school
administration, content in general teacher training courses like D ed
and B ed is also included in specialized training courses. Hence I
strongly feel that there is no need to tot the same subjects again in
the special education courses to the teachers who are already did the
normal training course.
Keeping in view of the above I humbly request the office-bearers of
unions associations of the blind in this platform to write a letter to
RCI with a request to introduce one month or two months short term
course (regular and distance) for existing teachers working in
government and privet schools on special education of the blind. For
which act of kindness I shall be ever remain grateful to you sir.
Thanking you in anticipation! Sir/ Madam,
Yours faithfully
