What I would suggest you, just start the scanning, stop where ever you
want to stop, after 50 pages for instance. Now save the document as a
tiff image, using save picture submenu. Next time whenever you need to
start scanning, just open this image file, start your scanning.

Which format are you looking to save the document in after scanning?
If it is in simple MS word, scan it as two files and join them.  If it
is in PDF, you should look for a merging software.

No No,
there is a way to resume scanning. Someone described it on keyboard
mailing list.
We can scan in image format in a pdf file and OCR it later. That is
what I am looking for.
I will be glad if someone could explain it here.
