2024-06-12 Thread Omkar Pawaskar
JAWS Settings for Multilingual Reading.

Here's a breakdown of how to configure JAWS 2023 to effectively handle
Tamil text:

Solution: Configuring JAWS for Tamil.

1. Language Profile Settings:

Open JAWS.
Press Insert + V to open the Quick Settings menu.
Type "language profile" to filter the options.
Select "Set Language Profile" and press Enter.
In the Language Profile window, click the Add button.
>From the drop-down list, choose Tamil.
Click OK to apply the change.

2. Voice Settings:

While in the Quick Settings menu, type "voice" to filter the options.
Select "Select a Voice" and press Enter.
Choose a voice that supports Tamil pronunciation. If you don't have one,
you can download additional voices from the Freedom Scientific website or
other providers.

3. Document/Application Settings:

In the Quick Settings menu, type "defaults" to filter the options.
Select "Set Default for All Applications" and press Enter.
Ensure that the "Default Language" is set to Tamil.
If you're working in a specific application like Microsoft Word, you can
also set the language within the application itself.

4. Testing:

Open a document or webpage containing both Tamil and English text.
Navigate through the content using JAWS commands. JAWS should now recognize
and announce the Tamil text correctly.

Additional Tips:

Tamil Fonts: Make sure your Tamil text uses a font that JAWS can recognize
and render properly. Standard Unicode Tamil fonts should work well.
Tamil Keyboard: If you're typing in Tamil, ensure you have a Tamil keyboard
layout installed and activated.
JAWS Updates: Keep your JAWS software updated. Newer versions may offer
improved language support.
Freedom Scientific Support: If you encounter issues, the Freedom Scientific
website and support forums can provide further assistance.

Re: [AI] steps to change the jaws settings so that it announces tamil language

2024-06-11 Thread Amiyo Biswas
I can make jaws detect Bengali character by character by using the old eloq.sbl
file. I got this file when detection of unicode characters was introduced with
jaws 6. First, send the word file to me personally. I want to check if it works
with Tamil.

I cannot make it pronounce the word. Character by character helps only in
detecting when a Bengali text comes up, or when I have to insert one or two
Bengali words.

With best regards,
Amiyo Biswas
