Re: [AI] A strange issue with gmail

2006-12-12 Thread Ibrahim Ali
Hello Vetri,
My tip was to solve the problem in sending large attachments [about nine mb]
via gmail. The error about security and its Message, as you mentioned, seems
due to 'exe' extension.
Gmaile site does not Take the attachments which have any file with 'exe'
extension. This feature is created as a security measure. Because 'exe' file
runs after just clicking on. To protect from viruses, which are also
programs, this feature is in user's favor. On other hand, if we change
'exe' extension into 'eee' etc, I think it is not 'cheating's If we are sure
that we are not sending virus. And even if it is a virus, it will not run by
accidental clicking. As it does not have 'exe' extension.

 Hello Ibrahim,

Actually it worked a couple of times, but started giving the same message.
In fact someone said that he was successful in sending file attachment
directly from the gmail sight, but it wasn't the case with me since I got
the message: You are attempting to send a file attachment which is
prohibited for security purposes. So I think the best thing is to just
follow my method of cheating the software. See how this world makes us
corrupt even if we want to be sincere and honest.

 Hello Vetri,
 Please try this.
Go to your gmail's property, then advanced tab. Here in 'server timeouts'
field, change value to about 55% [for about three minutes]. Then apply
 the
changes. I have solved the same problem in this way.

Subject: [AI] A strange issue with gmail

 Hi list,

I am encountering a strange issue with gmail for the past few days. When
 I
try to send my messages with file attachment, then I get the following
 message:

The message could not be sent because its size exceeded the server's
 limit. You can
use the option, located in Tools | Accounts | Properties | Advanced, to
 break messages
 into smaller parts.

Now as I understand, you can send up to 10 MB as file attachment with
gmail account. Then why am I getting this message even when the file
 size
is less than 100 KV. Any suggestion? I am using outlook express 6 with
JAWS 7.10 to send/receive messages on my Gmail account.

 Hi Vedri
The problem is with Outlook Express and not with GMail.

In this situation, you can send it from GMail site directly and not
 through
 OE.
