if you make use of good scanners and use it with abbyy fine reader, it gives 
you the satisfactory results. that's my practical conclusion as so far in last 
few years. of course, regional languages like hindi etc is the limitations 

hi mam, i feel kurzweil might be off some help.
instead, i suggest you to use ISTEM AI app on android.
its especially made for books with lots off tables with math content also.
it will get inputs from android mobile app and mail you the resulted file in 
the format you want. its the best OCR app have seen upt to now.
