 Dear friend,

It is possible for a blind person to use Tally independently for most of
 the
time. The scrips developed by NAB Delhi have greatly improved the
accessibility of Tally. But in some places, users still need to navigate
 using the JAWS cursor.

The only part where we require sighted assistance is the New Company
Creation screen. Once the company is created in Tally, then JAWS can be
 used
for making entries, generating reading various reports etc.

Tally versions before version 5.4 were DOS-based inaccessible with JAWS.
But later versions including version 5.4 are Windows-based accessible
 with
 JAWS.

 Hello list members,
Is it possible for a completely blind person to handle Tally for
accounting purposes? I want to prepare accountsfor a small
 enterprise.
Will it be possible? There are tally scripts available on Delhi site, how
far these scripts are helpful? Which version of Tally is most accessible
 with JAWS?
Some of our list members are accountants and have bulk of knowledge on
this topic. I would request them to please share your opinions on this
 topic.
If Tally is not at all accessible, are there other accounting package
which are accessible with JAWS? I have heard there are some other
softwares such as Tata EX and busy bin. How far are these softwares
 accessible with JAWS?
I would request our friends, who have knowledge on this topic, please

Re: [AI] tally accessibility with jaws

2008-06-01 Thread Sameer

Dear Prateek,

The scrips provide enough accessibility to work on Tally professionally. In
my previous job, I used Tally extensively for internal audit report
generation. At times, I even had to make rectification entries to correct
entries.

As regards the problem of requiring sighted assistance when creating a new
company, there seems to be no way around. The only method which comes to
mind is memorising the screen.

The difficulty in making the company creation screen accessible is the font
size. When letters entered in a Tally edit field become too small, JAWS will
not read them. This happens even in otherwise accessible portions of Tally.
In the company creation screen, the default size is set too small to permit
entry of large names, addresses, etc. As a result, JAWS stays silent on this
screen.

If yes, then what are the basic problem we have to face?
Is there any way to get wrid from them?
As you've stated that still we must have to take assistance of cited
