Re: [AI] language errors, please pay attention.

2009-07-17 Thread Arvind Bhartiya
here i would like to add one more suggestion.
the subject line should be explicit and avoid phrases like urgent or
help needed or non specific subjects .
this will save a lot of time
regards

Subject: [AI] language errors, please pay attention.

hello accessindians, greetings for the day.

i'm not sure if this can be considered as an off topic post, but since
i think its a forum about uplifting of differently able peoples, and
their better future, growth and development, i thought i'd bring this
topic to attention.

before going further, please understand that i'm no linguistic expert,
and i'm not trying to offend anybody personelly, i'm here to learn
and share whatever i observed.

i also understand that india, is a country of unity in diversity, and
various accessindians comes from a different background under
different circumstances and varied educational qualifications, which
indeed forms a group of people having different knowledge, skills, and
are expert in their own respective fields.

what i've observed and noticed is, lately, i've been reading mails
from accessindia with drastically distorted, and utterly
malfunctioning form of english, which not only makes reading
unpleasant, but also doesn't convey the message in its entirety.

this leads to total confusion and further time consuming,
not-so-useful threads of emails on a particular subject, all together
defeating the purpose of getting the actual problem solved.

so i'd humbly like to request 1 and all, to please be a little more
careful before firing an email to the list, and kindly use spell
checkers provided by default with most of the email clients, or if you
are more like a web mail user, please take time to write down your
message in microsoft word, and run spell checker to iron out the
errors, and then use copy paste features to put your message in the
message body.

alternatively, you can also visit,
www.tinyspell.com
to correct your spellings on the fly, in real time as you type, as i do.

the program is fairly accessible and i've done its extensive review of
it few months ago, which, hopefully can be located in accessindia mail
archive.

please understand that i'm not being a snob or trying to prove my self
a superior to anybody, i'm just trying to point out my observation.

please forgive me if anyone got offended, but i suppose, these small
spelling errors in CV's, and job applications plays a very big part.

so i'd request you all, to sit down, frame up and compose the message,
review and then send it to the list for the best results.

with warm regards,

ruchir.
