[Bug 10724] System is unstable with EC GPE storm detected
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10724 --- Comment #115 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-09-03 01:34 --- There is no definition about how to process the EC notification event in ACPI spec. In the current upstream kernel when GPE interrupt is serviced, the GPE is deferred to be enabled again only after the GPE method is fully evaluated.(Including the notification event). Maybe it is also appropriate that the query_pending bit is cleared after EC notification event is processed.(_Qxx method is evaluated). In fact on my laptop the SCI_EVT bit is always set before the _Qxx method is evaluated. If the patch in comment #110 is applied, one EC notification event is processed three times. If the notification event is related with battery, maybe a lot of EC interrupts are at all meaningless. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100url=/ ___ acpi-bugzilla mailing list acpi-bugzilla@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/acpi-bugzilla

[Bug 11374] No handler for Region [EC__] - MSI EX600 notebook
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11374 --- Comment #10 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-09-03 18:37 --- Hi, Dan Do you mean that the system can work well now? Will you please double check whether the following message still exists? ACPI Error (evregion-0315): No handler for Region [EC__] (88007f8145e8) [EmbeddedControl] [20080609] ACPI Error (exfldio-0291): Region EmbeddedControl(3) has no handler [20080609] ACPI Error (psparse-0530): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SBRG.EC__.BAT1._STA] (Node 88007f815fc0), AE_NOT_EXIST In fact the above message won't break anything. Of course the boot option of reboot=a is also required. In this debug patch the ACPI reboot mechanism will be used forcibly regardless of ACPI_FADT_RESET_REGISTER bit flag. [Bug 11331] Fan speed setting reset after suspend to disk/ram on Thinkpad X31
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11331 --- Comment #11 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-09-03 20:04 --- You set pwm1_enable to 0 on the thinkpad_hwmon attributes. See the thinkpad-acpi documentation in your kernel's Documentation/laptops/ directory, as well as the hwmon documentation in Documentation/hwmon/sysfs-interface. And if continuous use of that mode that damages your fan, the MOSFET fan driver (which requires an extremely expensive motherboard change to repair, as far as Lenovo is concerned), or fills up your thinkpad with dust, it is your own fault. Operation of a thinkpad outside of fan mode auto (pwm1_enable = 2) is done on your own risk, and might void your warranty.

[Bug 11478] Brightness function keys do not work when acpi is enabled on Gateway m-1624

I however run 'cat /proc/acpi/event' and i had a 'no such file or directory found' error message. Please attach the kernel config file here. Please make sure CONFIG_ACPI_PROC_EVENT is set in your kernel config. I however killed it using gnome-system-monitor but it the brightness function keys still do not work. I am attaching the acpidump. (In reply to comment #3) with ACPI enabled, with ACPI video driver loaded, can you change the brightness via the sysfs backlight interface (/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/...) ? please run the following commands: echo 0 /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness; echo 7 /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness; is the brightness acutally changed?
