Re: PA3 release screenshots

2012-10-01 Thread Thomas Pfeiffer
Sorry, I'll have to be a bit nagging about names again because we're still
quite inconsistent here:

It's called Okular Active (although the name is intentionally not user-visible
anywhere).

> > - file browsing

It's currently called "Files" in the Launcher. It's planned to eventually grow
into a universal Resource Browser, so I'm not sure if we should stick with
"Files" as long as it actually shows only files or give it a name that fits
better what we have in mind for it.
I'm okay with it being called "Files" for now, but it should be called that
_everywhere_ then (in the Launcher, in the window title, in crash reports
etc.).

The window title and the title for the kwallet dialog was still "Add Ons App"
last time I checked. In the Launcher it's currently called "Store". Could we
please settle on a name and change to it in every user-visible place? If even
we get confused with the names, how is the public (and our users) supposed to
get it right? And this is something people are likely to talk about, so the
name should really be made to stick (see Google Play or App Store, for
example).

This might all look like unimportant details, but the more buzz we create
around PA, the more important naming consistency becomes. We don't want a new
Cashew ;)

PA3 seems mature enough to me now to start applying finishing touch like this.

Cheers,
Thomas

"addons store"

fine with this selection

ok, I'll make the crops for a few features and put it the JS stuff.
- SLC
- document viewer
- file browsing
- activities (create new activity shot)
- market application (what are we actually calling that?)

These, should be IMO skipped in the feature overview bar:
- recommendations (i am still voting to remove that drawer)
- image viewer - everyone has it
- we browser - unless we want to tout the html5 complience or something...

The peek-and-launch could be shown on the first image - with the general text
(something like the current)

there wasn't a fixed date (and that was a mistake probably)
i think it should be tried for friday or, media-wise maybe better sunday
night, but to have all ready before, so there is just to push a button

Not a bad idea.

Though, for me, the /band/ wasn't supposed for normal screenshots - just for
feature previews. But it could have the - show cropped-zoomed feature in the
strip, and show the whole sshot when clicked.

Cheerio

p.s. I'm a bit out of the loop - when *is* the release?

not sure if it can be made working quickly enough..

i also tought that may work using a piece of the screenshot that takes the
whole site width with the text on top, then clicking anywhere on that band
shows the image full page

Virtual Keyboard gone away?

2012-10-01 Thread Sascha Manns
Hello,

i'm not sure but it looks like the virtual keyboard from PA is gone. In the
past there was a folder "virtualkeyboard" in plasma-mobile. But in the newest
git checkout it wasn't visible anymore.
Does anyone knows more?

Yes, but the design is intended to have the text on the left - currently
'Plasma Active is the interface for people on the move.'

And the image should show a real device (we can always slap the shots onto the
photo of a device like I did for the current low-res crappy image) and it
should IMO show the relevant part zoomed in.

So, for example, for SLC, it would show only the top right corner with the
icons and the popup menu.

If we are going with the new design - it will need less screenshots (I'd say
max 5) with a short text for each one - something like:
 'Share-Like-Connect'
'Blah-blah sharing has never been this easy - blah blah something' :)
