this is generally how we position it. key ideas include:

* a task centric design in Activities
* not just an app bucket
* productivity applications included
* a non-toy file manager, etc.

Brainstorm: Possible niches for Plasma Active / what is needed

Brainstorm: Possible niches for Plasma Active / what is needed

Plasma active already has plenty of positive attributes going for it. The
tablet wars are heating up and some is already entrenched with Google and
Apple. Plasma active may need to find niches it can exploit to gain a larger
user base.

Plasma active, can be presented as the tablet interface to get some real work
done. It already has a PIM suite and an Office suite as well as a touch
friendly drawing canvas app with Krita touch.

Some possible other areas it can be extended is to scientific / math with a
touch version of kalzium and cantor.(these can be future GSoC).

PA can try to position itself as the better offline tablet. While other
platforms and tablets are focusing on online apps and functionality PA can fill
the niche of offline functionality and use.

Another possible way to leverage PA is to make it a reference viewer /
companion, what may be needed is an offline wiki-viewer(possibly the ability to
install the full wikipedia) an offline dictionary and a spelling / translator
app. While other tablets and platforms leverage the Cloud this can be a way
PA differentiate itself by allowing a more complete and useful offline
experience.

PA may also be able to differentiate itself by allowing a better offline
mapping
solution. Marble already supports downloading tiles and using routing
engines. What would be needed is vector maps and the ability to used the
planet.osm file. Having the whole world in your tablet would give PA full
bragging rights would increase it's offline usefulness.

Feel free to respond and brainstorm further.
