[ActiveDir] HELP!! Directory Services restore mode password lost

2002-02-11 Thread Windows 2000

I have taken over a site and I am trying to create a child domain. When it
asks for the DS Restore mode password the one that was given to me does not
work. Is there any way to recover a change the password. I tried using the
setpwd utility but that did not work.

Thanks

Jason

Oluwaseyi give this a read;

I'm not sure how authoritative it is, but its one answer. There is a
workaround suggestion at the bottom.

All the best,

Andy

Use to achieve the restriction of concurrent logons with Kixtart logon
scripts in NT 4.0 (macro let you check if account was already logged on).
Not sure if this is appropriate though for 2000 due to the multi read/write
domain/Forest model against the one point for recording when a user logs on
in NT 4.0 (the PDC). Could be worth a look though, as far as a single
sign-on product I am not sure if they would provide the functionality you
are chasing (SSO products from Sun, Novell etc).
Have heard that there is a script available to restrict concurrent log ons
in the Resource Kit although I have not played with this.

Cheers

David

another machine, bnecause he has logged on on another machine.

Please if anybody has a clue on doing this please do let me know.
