Don't know if you've heard or not, but I joined Quest Software as a product manager in their Exchange Solutions group earlier this year. Archive Manager, our archiving product, is my responsibility. This naturally means I'm always interested in competitive information, and on what people want to see that they're not seeing - what you love and hate. If you'd ever like to spill your guts (and I shan't quote you), I'd love to hear what you have to say. Hope all is well and that we'll get to see each other at the Summit -- or maybe even TechEd -- are you going to either? both? If you do get to speak with them in the course of your evaluation (you are going to do a thorough eval, right?), be sure to ask them what happens if you run out of room on a vault and you want your users to clean out their items to make more room. Remember to ask what happens when you are doing hardware refresh and you need your users to move stuff from their offline vault on their old computers to their offline vault on their new computer. Remember to ask them about the unique behavior of the online vault when you need to replace the vault itself or when you want to add additional vaults and split your users across multiple vaults. [ActiveDir] UF_PASSWD_NOTREQD on domain controller?
Daily I run a DCDiag report for the domain controllers in my enterprise. I noticed that after I upgraded my FSMO root domain controller (where I run the DCDiag report) to W2K3/SP1 from W2K3, I see the following for one of my child domain controllers: Warning: Attribute userAccountControl of X is: 0x82020 = ( UF_PASSWD_NOTREQD | UF_SERVER_TRUST_ACCOUNT | UF_TRUSTED_FOR_DELEGATION ) Typical setting for a DC is 0x82000 = ( UF_SERVER_TRUST_ACCOUNT | UF_TRUSTED_FOR_DELEGATION ) This may be affecting replication? I am not aware of anything changing on the child DC in question. A password not required for a DC computer account doesn't make much sense. Googling doesn't appear to produce anything useful. Any thoughts on what this might mean? Thanks! Re: [ActiveDir] OT: e-mail archiving systems
Sort of interesting. Missy and I are good friends and we work for companies that directly compete with eachother. (luckily we can keep business and personal separated) :P I always encourage people to test software to see what they are getting. Especially with an archiving system that is most likely to be around in their environment for a while. RE: [ActiveDir] How to enumerate scanners in a domain using ADSI/WMI
Scanners? Like scanners that scan your photos? Or like network sniffers (which some people call scanners)? Or something else? Can you clarify Manbinder? ~Eric From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Manbinder Pal Singh Sent: Saturday, May 07, 2005 2:17 AM To: ActiveDir@mail.activedir.org Subject: [ActiveDir] How to enumerate scanners in a domain using ADSI/WMI Hi all I want to know how to know how many scanners are there in the domain and their properties using ADSI/WMI.
