[ActiveDir] Server-services

2003-07-11 Thread Jochen Andries

Hello all,

Our domain server is also our
PROXY-server. On every reboot of the
server we have a lot of problems to start the proxyserver.

EventId 127 and EventId 14

They are talking about
deleting the w3proxy-insert in the properties in the Default
Web Site

I done it several times, but
this time, I cant succeed to start the proxy-server L

Any-one ?

Please help:

My company is currently
migrating from an NT domain structure to AD... I have some questions
regarding how some of you went about hooking in your DMZ web servers to AD
securely... What DID YOU DO?!! What are the recommended best
practices?

The options we have discussed
so far are:

Option1: Join DMZ
servers to AD domain, open a half dozen ports on each server (Kerberos, LDAP,
NetBios, etc) and lose the purpose of having a DMZ altogether.

Option2: Create a
separate forest for the DMZ servers and create a one-way trust between our two
forests.

Option3: Stand alone
DMZ servers not joined to any domain.

All other options:
??

Your suggestions are greatly
appreciated!

Is there even a need to hook
DMZ into AD? I've heard MS talk about needing AD for apps like Sharepoint
Portal...

Is SharePoint Server THE

Hello,

I have just installed windows 2000 server on a test system
and added a couple of computers and users. If I try to browse the domain
I get an error telling me thedomain is not accessible and that I may not
have permission to use this network resource. The error message also
tells me no more connections can be made to this remote computer...

I have checked the licensing on the only server on this
domain and there are more than enough client licenses (per seat).
If I do File-Run '\\'server name' I can see all the shares and printers on this
server. I can also fine all computers and resources by searching the AD.

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this and I will be
Kicking myself when I know what it is. This is my first attempt at setting
up Win200 Server so be prepared for more postings.

Many thanks

Directory between a firewall

Hi guys,

I have a little problem over
here. I have an implementation of active directory where the servers sit on a
subnet and all the client workstations sit in another subnet.

For security reasons I want
to move the servers into DMZ zone. I
found out that when I move the servers into the DMZ zone they are not able to
communicate with active directory. This is because the domain controller is
within the proper network, but the servers that needs to be moved into the DMZ
are servers like the exchange and ISA servers and these servers need to
communicate with active directory to function properly.

What ports do I need to open
on the firewall in other for the machines in the DMZ to talk to active
directory effectively.

Thanks

Get your attention with the subject? :)

I have been battling a problem with one of my user's machines for the
past week. She is running Windows XP Pro, Office XP Pro SP1. Whenever
she starts up her Outlook, she gets prompter for the username, password
and server.

I put the information in exactly as it should be (and have verified with
my AD on the server) and I get the following message:

Your login information was incorrect. Check your username and domain,
then type in your password again. If your account is new or if your
administrator requested a password change you need to click Change
Password then logon with your new password.

I re-check the info in the AD on the server via VNC so I am right there
at her terminal doing double checks. I re-enter the password, and get
the message again. I change the password on the AD, then enter the new
password on her Outlook (usually use 1 as the password so I know I type
it correct) and still get the above error.

I need to get this resolved for her as she is in charge of accounting
and has made my life hell in the past because since I am the IT Manager
I should be all knowing, all powerful (a common misconception by those
users that know no better)

So, please if anyone knows what I can do to resolve this, please let me
know. I'm at my wits end!

Thanks,
Chris

Good Morning,

We have recently set up a site within a larger Active Directory. We are
in
the process of moving users and computers to their new ou's.

I remember a thread awhile back that explained that when you added a
computer to AD you could specify which OU it went into, I believe this
was
done through an unattended install script, are there other ways, or do
the
computers always get placed in the default OU?

Thank you in advance for your help.

You can use a startup script and use
VBScript to map the drives. You can pretty much call on any command like
route.

In the group policy for the container
select startup script under computer configuration and point to the VBScript or
JScript that you want to use. I will look for examples but I am sure that
before I find one someone will post one It is that kind of group
g.

go...

We
want to install a new WIN2000 Native domain for our corporation. The
previous installation was done by our collegues but they don't work no
longer for the company. They left us with no documentationso we have
to live withwhat we have, weconvinced our managers to create a
new domain our ease. But now they are conviced, they want a planning and
FULL documentation and this in a time frame we can't deliver, but we will
not give up...even if we have to work 24Hrs a day...hope you know the
feeling...

So
our pledge : does someone has a planning and/or a set of documentation to
get us started.

Thanks a
