[ActiveDir] AD and Novell Delivered Applications

2003-01-28 Thread RICHARD HELMS - 5535
We are currently running in a mixed Windows 2000 / Novell environment and preparing to
switch to strictly a Windows 2000 environment and all of our clients are running
Windows XP. But we are faced with the problem of delivering the applications similar
to Novell's Delivered Applications. We have been able to deliver applications to the
desktop. The problem with this is some users may receive some applications and others
may receive those applications plus different applications which creates many GPO's
redirected to many different folders. Has anyone encountered such a beast and if so
how did you conquer it?

Thanks in Advance
Richard Helms

[ActiveDir] _msdcs Replication

2002-05-31 Thread RICHARD HELMS - 5535

AD integrated does not replicate properly. However after switching to Primary and
Secondary it works fine, until the server is rebooted. Once the server is rebooted it
reverts back to AD integrated on its on, and does not replicate properly. Does anyone
have a solution on how to correct any of these problems?

Thanks in advance

RE: [ActiveDir] _msdcs Replication

2002-05-31 Thread RICHARD HELMS - 5535

I agree with all that you have listed. But why are the DC in the child domain
reverting to AD integrated after reboot when they have been set to secondary?

Thanks again

 [EMAIL PROTECTED] 5/31/2002 10:39:51 AM
I have not tried going from AD Integrated to Primarybut

AD integrated will not replicate to an AD integrated DC in another domain
within the same forest. This is because the DNS info is stored in the
domain partition in AD.

So your replication may not work because you are trying to do ADI DNS to two
different domains.

RE: [ActiveDir] Groupwise and Active Directory

2002-04-04 Thread RICHARD HELMS - 5535

We currently have Groupwise 5.5 and do not use Novell's eDirectory. We have about 250
users spread across four sites. One of the remote site use Metaframe to connect to
the network. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

 [EMAIL PROTECTED] 4/3/2002 4:39:33 PM
What Version of GroupWise are you running? GroupWise 5 and 6 will run on
eDirectory and could happily co-exist for a period. There are some good
third party migration tools that can port your mailboxes across while
allowing Ex and GW to co-exist during the migration (if you have
multiple sites, medium+ client base, etc)

Is anyone still running Groupwise in an Active Directory environment ?
We are currently a mixed environment Novell 5.1 with NDS and some NT 4.0
servers. We are getting ready to make the move to 2000, Active
Directory, XP desktops, etc. We were hoping to stage the Exchange
migration as the last phase but we are not sure how Groupwise will play
into the Active Directory structure? Can anyone give me some insight on
this?

Try using this http://www.solarwinds.net/ there are several evaluation versions out

I've used MTRG, Denika, WUG. but none of them will do what I'm looking for.

What I want is a tool that will scan/monitor a switch ( a Cisco 4006 for
example) read all ports though SNMP or RMON and tell me which one has the
most active then I could use the MAC address to find that workstation.

Because we have a fully switched network, most sniffers don't work in a
switched environment.

Anyone using or have seen a tool like this?

thanks,jb
