RE: [ActiveDir] Delegating Terminal Services Profile permissions

2005-09-27 Thread Cothern Jeff D. Team EITC
Have question bout Terminal Services and Profiles. I was helping wife
with an issue at her work with printers. We TS'd in and fixed the
printer issue easily enough but I noticed tons of Folder redirection
errors. Investigating real quick I determined that the users did not
have write access to a redirected folder for Application data. I asked
wife to inquire with her IT support company and the answer she got
definatley doesn't satisfy me. The IT support company told her they
were known errors with microsoft and nothing could be done. That it
wasn't indicative of a problem. Me I hate red circles in my event logs.

So here are the questions.

Why would you want to redirect Application Data?

Do you need to to just restrict users to specific Start Menu's based
on their Group?

You can try delegating userParameter as that is where the info is
stored, but I believe all of the mechanisms that update it use legacy
NET style calls which require Acc Op or Admin rights.

I was wondering if it's possible to delegate the ability to change the
settings in the terminal services profile tab on an account. I took a
look, and nothing stood out that might work.

Thanks.
