RE: [ActiveDir] Article on SUS

I had a question on the automatic install feature for clients. If we were to set that
at 3:00 AM, what happens if the user shuts their machine off (or takes it home) at
night. I'm not seeing an answer in their deployment guide.

You can tell it to apply missed patches after startup, and then either auto-reboot or
prompt for reboot.

Probably performs the missed updates at next bootup. This could cause
issues when the user in question is not expecting the reboot that
usually follows.

2003-09-18 Thread Roger Seielstad
One of the settings from the ADM template (which sets a registry key) is a
post-boot time delay for the patches to be applied, which is applied if the
client wasn't on during the last install cycle.

Personally, I've got our install cycle set for noon, so people get hit and
know they need to reboot.

In looking at the ADM for the SUS SP1 I found the answer. It is configurable to wait
x minutes after startup if the scheduled time was missed.

That's why you can set the No Forced Reboot option - they get a popup saying
that they need to reboot but they can cancel i74
