HSM, Veritas and Solaris

2000-09-04 Thread Christoph Martin

Hi all,

I just got Tivoli Space Manager (4.1) (alias HSM) for Solaris and am
reading the requirements. It says there, that I need Solaris 2.6 and
Veritas VxFS 3.3.2. However, Solaris 2.6 is really autdated, we have
Version 7 installed, and the recent version of VxFS is 3.3.3.

Does anybody know if HSM is working with this environment?

Christoph Martin

Re: SQLSCHED.LOG Pruning

2000-09-04 Thread Michel Engels

I believe the option you should use is "/LOGPRUNE:60". Where 60 is the number of
days you want to keep in your log. This option is the one you shuold specify in
the batch scripts that will be launched via a schedule and which would do the
backup with the "SQLDSMC" command.

Hope this helps,

Michel Engels

Subject: SQLSCHED.LOG Pruning

Can anyone tell me how to prune the connect agent logs? I have
SCHEDLOGRetention=14 in the dsm.opt file, but the sqlsched.log keeps
growing.

Slow ODBC in 4.1

2000-09-04 Thread Viliam Varga

Hi,

does anybody have experiences with ODBC in version 4.1? It looks VERY slow.
It's normal, if table with 500 rows (summary) opens about 20 minutes?
Thanks for response.

Lotus Notes backup problems

2000-09-04 Thread Raymond Chao

Dear all,

We are currently running ADSM 3.1.2.57 on Aix 4.3.2 . We are
having problems with the Notes(WinNT) backup.
Can anyone suggest why the Lotus notes will regularly backup about 60 Gb
of data even though
there are only about 30 GB of data. The capacity of notes drives is about
63 Gb. We start to believe that somehow
the whole drive is being backed up. We even do an estimate on a restore on
the client to verify the 30 Gb of data
that ADSM has backed up. Any suggestions are welcome..

HELP: Questions regarding SHAREDMEM method

2000-09-04 Thread Loudway

Hi, TSM guru:

I currently is trying to setup a TSM3.7.6 server on SUN 6500/Solaris 7. I
tried to backup the local client via SHAREDMEM method. However, the transfer
rate is very slow, about 1200K/sec. I am wondering what is wrong. I am not
sure what parameters need to be tunned when using SHAREDMEM comm method. do
the TCP parameters still matter ??

Thank you very much

Mike

Re: Lotus Notes backup problems

2000-09-04 Thread Gavin Ring

Raymond

Are you using the "Lotus Notes Connect Agent" or just the standard client *SM
backup ?

If you are using the standard client backup...what is probably happening is *SM
backups a notes database and at the end *SM detects that it has changed and
backs it up again to get a clean copy. *SM will do this for as many times as the
"changingretries" setting specifies. Each backup will update the amount of data
backed up number .
