how long have you been using this db? if it is over 3 months you can also try
to unload/load db. I did this
for my %70 full db and after the operation I saw it is only %30 full. Of course
you may increase your db anyway

They needed something to fill up a bunch of space. The three obvious choices
are nulls, a fixed pattern, and random bits.

Nulls could be "sparse"-ized down in some filesystems, causing problems down
the line.

Random bits have the problem that it can be very difficult to figure out, a
posteriori, where you have and haven't overwritten anything.

So you pick a pattern, and do it lots. Eric got to pick. :)

Db2 on AIX: Reason code: "610".

2002-06-10 Thread Borja Borrego

Hi all!

I've been having a problem, just as Michael Lightfoot related on april 99
with title "ADSM API and DB2 backups ".
My db2 v7.1 online backups on AIX have been working succesfully for 3 days,
but now, I get the following error.

SQL2062N An error occurred while accessing media
  "/export/home/db21s/sqllib/adsm/libadsm.a". Reason code: "610".

Just as Michael Explained, the problem doesn't seem to be due to
unavailabilty of the dsmclientV3.cat file (everythig had worked fine at the
beginning). Following, the instructions of IBM

+
Explanation: The system is unable to open the message txt file
(dscameng.txt or dsmclientV3.cat for AIX). On the AS/400 platform this
file
 is QANSAPI/QAANSAMENG(TXT).

System Action: The system returns to the calling procedure.

User Response: Verify that the dscameng.txt file is in the directory
pointed to by DSMI_DIR. For AIX, verify that the dsmclientV3.cat file has a
symbolic link /usr/lib/nls/msg//dsmclientV3.cat .
**

Answering this problem, there was a solution porpoused, but it has'nt worked
in my case.

Anyone has another idea?

Thanks in advance,

Borja

Joseph,

We have seen success with customers using
Adaptive Differencing Technology
(also known as Adaptive Sub-file Backup).
It might be worth a try for you.
Take a look at the TSM BA client User's Guide

The schedule daemon was installed but the machine does not wake from

someone
comes along and waks it up. What am I missing. (I am not Mac savvy so
type slowly).

Wolf-Christian,

You said you spoke to IBM. Was that IBM support?
Did you have a PMR? You can change the buffers to 8 and
the buffersize to 8192, but most of the testing that
we have seen is that buffers at 3 and buffersize of 1024
provides the best results.

"Unknown Exchange API error" needs to be looked at
more closely. The service team needs to examine the
specific HRESULT code returned with that error.
The only way to capture this information is with a trace.
Please open a new PMR (or reopen the old one) if you
continue to see this error.

Thanks,

Del

Hi Borja,

please try the 4.1- TSM-Client-Release. I had similar problems using DB2-V6.1
with TSM Client 4.3!!!
The compile worked fine, but if I tried to start a backup of a database, the
whole db2-instance has crashed
down. After several hours (or days) of searching the error in db2-parameters, I
have installed an older version
of the tsm-api . and it worked fine.

good luck!

I've already spent two days with this problem, and I wasn't able to compile
the db2uext2.cadsm (previoulsy renamed to db2uext2.c and compiled with the
required parameters) in order to get the .exe file because I get constantly
linking errors like this:

I've tried many different option arguments for the compiler (and three
different compilers) but I don't really know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe API
version? Db2 version?

Could give me some clues of where to download already compiled versions of
this file?
Or at least, where can I download a free compiler and specfic commands to
