smnode.c Error obtaining copy group
Dear All, I could have sworn I had seen this posted somewhere but bizarrely cannot locate it now when I really need it. I've been backing up happily over the LAN with TDP for R/3 3.2.0.12 to a TSM 4.2.3 server on AIX. Now I've switched back to lanfree. The Storage Agent is at the same level as the server. I'm getting the following message on the server. ANRD (Session: 60041, Origin: GISR07_SA) smnode.c(7828): ThreadId<11> Error obtaining copy group name for ID 1 during Session 4849. I seem to remember there was some mention of difficulties in rebinding between management classes when moving between lanfree backups and lan backups, however I thought the problem only showed itself if you tried to change the management class whilst using lanfree and that the 'cure' was to send data over the lan where it would successfully rebind. I've been off lanfree for a few weeks - true, the management class whilst on the lan has been successfully changed. Just what is the story here? Thanks to anyone who can shine a light on this - and I steel myself for a scolding if this has indeed already been mentioned. Regards, Eric Winters Sydney Australia
4.2.3 Upgradedb slow
I have just installed the 4.2.3 server upgrade and have been running the UPGRADEDB process for almost 3 hours now. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, how long will this take. In the past, it has only run a couple of minutes. This is an upgrade from 4.2.2 on OS/390 R10. DB is about 11GB 85% used. Thanks Sam Sheppard San Diego Data Processing Corp. (858)-581-9668

Re: Help on schedule object field
I imagine that you want to back up the files within these directories, not just the directory entries themselves; in which case, you need the terminating slash at the end of the directory name. Also, use a blank space to separate directory names, not a comma. Try this: OBJECTS='/usr/sybase/backups/ /usr/unify/temp/' If you wish to back up subdirectories within these directories, then you will also need (if you don't already have it): OPTIONS=-SUBDIR=YES Regards, Andy Andy Raibeck IBM Software Group Tivoli Storage Manager Client Development Internal Notes e-mail: Andrew Raibeck/Tucson/IBM@IBMUS Internet e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (change eye to i to reply) The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked. Re: TSM 4.1.0 on OS/390 2.9 hang
We migrated our TSM server off of OS390 about 6 months ago. But when we were on OS390 we had that problem and had to go to maintenance level 4.2.1.9 to fix it. A work around seem to be to cycle the TSM server every day. David >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 12/04/02 09:41PM >>> Hello All Our TSM server is experiencing intermittant problems (on average every second day) with these characteristics 1. TSM is consuming a lot of CPU resources. 2. There is no TAPE I/O activity occuring when I know there are migrations/reclamations running. 3. I'm unable to logon to TSM using dsmadmc. The login attempt hangs and eventually times out. 4. There is no activity being recorded in the TSM activity log (ie syslog). 5. There is nothing unusual prior to the last entry in the activity log...no errors. Sometimes after and hour or so of TSM doing nothing productive, things come right and everything continues on as normal. Leaving an hour or two's gap in the activity log. On other occasions the TSM server grinds to a halt..Zero CPU activity and Zero tape I/O activity, resulting in us having tp recycle the TSM server. We are running TSM with a region size of 1280MB. I know we are back level in TSM server maintenance and are in the process of migrating to TSM 5.1, but in the meantime has anyone on the list seen something like this or can suggest what I can do to resolve this problem. Re: Schedule successfull despite severe error, nothing in act log
One of the very nice features of Servergraph/TSM is that it queries the filespaces daily and sends email notifications when a filespace is not successfully backed up. It does not rely on a schedule event successful message to determine whether the backup did in fact complete. Re: include/exclude syntax question for TSM Unix Client
In the recent postings on Include/Exclude, there isn't mention of the use of the 'dsmc query inclexcl' command. That can be a great aid in illuminating how the Include/Exclude statements "compile" - particularly in conjunction with the out-of-sight client option set Include/Excludes that reside on the server.
