File Expiration

2002-12-26 Thread Baldenegro, Raymond - Perot
Question.
How does TSM handle the expiration of files on media stored in our offsite
storage facility??
Does it wait until all the data has expired to recall the tape back. Help!!
I have a ton of tape offsite that has less than 10% of the tape utilized.

Question 2.
When I go to DRM Offsite recovery media mountable for tapes to go offsite I
check the media with "q vol xx f=d" and the media is less than 10%
utilized so I leave them in the library to be used on the next migration but
these tape will no longer mounted to be utilized for the remainder of the
media. Is there a way to have TSM continue to mount these tapes until they
are totally utilized. Help I am going thru a ton of tapes!!

ITSM v5.2

2002-12-26 Thread Zlatko Krastev
Hello all,

Merry Christmas to those of you believing in Jesus-derived religions!

Trying to figure out updates to my certifications I got the 2003 Tivoli
Exam Development Plan
(http://www.tivoli.com/services/certification/announcements/2003tivoliexamdevelopmentplan.pdf).
There I found new ITSM v5.2 certification exam planned for 2Q2003.
Knowing IBM loves April & October for product launches and the
Announcement Letters come out in Tuesdays, we have to expect next version
on 8-th of April.
So we have only three months left to find rock-solid v5.1.x.y version, get
some breath and prepare for the battle with v5.2.

Happy New Year and Happy New Fun! (again for those using Gregorian
calendar. I've read somewhere our Chinese colleagues have to wait till
March :-)

Downloading OS/390 server maintenance

2002-12-26 Thread Thomas Denier
We have a 4.2.1.9 server under OS/390. We need to upgrade to 4.2.3.0
to fix a memory leak. The anonymous FTP server for TSM maintenance
has file saying: "Please refer to your readme for the instructions
to get to the password protected ftp site to get the latest fix".
SYS1.SAMPLIB(ANR4421) seems to be the README file for the 4.2.1
server, but I can't find any information on the password
protected FTP site in that PDS member. What am I missing here?

Yep, I'm on 4.2.3 as well. I'll give support a call tomorrow and see what
they say. I'll post my findings here tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Still happens here in 4.2.3

I have two servers where it happens, one AIX and the other on Solaris.

Creating archives from an older client (3.1 in both cases) triggered the
messages.

I removed the node and data from the AIX server, and eventually the messages
slowed to an occasional occurrence.

I started receiving this error message recently for certain nodes after
their backup sessions end normally. Any idea what the cause is? Nothing
has changed with our setup for quite some time.

No, I do not. Only after backup sessions end, and it appears to be
occurring for all nodes.

Backup MISSED ONLY for ONE node

2002-12-26 Thread rachida elouaraini
Hi all,

I have 4 TSM clients (OS: AIX5.1) which are "backuped" every day.
Since last friday, the status of the schedule "CLIENT.BACKUP" is "missed" for ONLY
ONE node (the status of the schedule is completed for the others), this node is the
TSM server.
In the dsmerror.log I find the messages :
