Antwort:Moving a cloptset

2009-07-17 Thread Markus Engelhard
Hi Fred,

export a node (no data) with the cloptset associated to it, the cloptset
gets exported as well.

Bit of straightforward with a sidestep (dance the chacha).

Maximum limit of a filename

2009-07-17 Thread Christian Svensson
Hi all,
Has anyone any ideas what the maximum limit of characters is per filename that
TSM BA Client 5.5.x and 6.1.x can backup in Linux (x86)?
I think I heard a number of 1024 characters but that is not enough in my case.
:(

Re: Maximum limit of a filename

2009-07-17 Thread Henrik Vahlstedt
Hi Christian,

Read IBM Tivoli Storage Manager V6.1 Linux Backup-Archive Client Known Problems
and Limitations

Path names longer than 1024 bytes
Although Linux system supports files and directories with path plus file name
length up to 4096 bytes, the TSM Client currently limits the length of filename
and pathname: maximum filename to 256 and maximum pathname to 1023 bytes
correspondingly, and an error message is displayed on the console when this
length exceeds that limit. This will be fixed in a future release.

Note that one byte isnt one characters with unicode...

AIX snapshot filesystem backup

2009-07-17 Thread Mehdi Salehi
Hi,

TSM Server: AIX 6.1+TSM 5.2
Client1: AIX 5.2+B/A Client 5.4
Client2: AIX 6.1+B/A Client 6.1
Both clients have /testfs

dsmc backup image /testfs performs a snapshot backup in Client2 but static
in Client1. How can I force Client1 to do snapshot backup?

Mehdi

Re: NAS restore not showing inactive

2009-07-17 Thread Huebner,Andy,FORT WORTH,IT
We logon with a system account
Yes
We also use the toc=y option.
We can see the other backups if we choose point in time. But that makes it
difficult to locate a file that was deleted at on unknown time.

Thanks,

slightly delayed response...

Things to check:
- Make sure you are logging into the webclient with an TSM account that
has access to the data. I login with my system-level administrator
account just to be sure.
- do you see the backups when you do a q nasbackup ?
- Verify you have a TOC for the backup that you want (output from the q
nasbackup)
If you don't have a toc, it might be easiest to just restore node from
the admin command line.

When we started using this, sometimes the TOC portion failed and we never
were notified. We now use toc=y in our backup node commands to make
absolutely sure we get one.

[ADSM-L] NAS restore not showing inactive

We are trying to restore a file from tape to our NAS and the Web Client is
not showing the previous backups for any of the NAS backups. There are 7
inactive copies and the backups have been working. The NAS is a LAN free
backup. This was previously tested and it did work.
Without any errors in the log I am not sure where to look for the problem.

Vince,

You can make use of dsmadmc within the c:\program
files\tivoli\tsm\baclient directory in windows or
/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin directory in AIX to run administrative
commands from the client. The following 2 references will help you learn
more about TSM.

client.

The admin gui is the ISC/Admin Center.
Many of us preferred the CLI using dsmadmc

There are other commercial products available to manage TSM.

Re: TSM gui

2009-07-17 Thread Zoltan Forray/AC/VCU
The TSM server comes with its own admin/control programs you install
separately. Other than that, you would need to buy a product. Personally,
I use TSMManager (http://www.tsmmanager.com). You can download a trial.

Long ago there used to be the web administrator but that was dropped in
favor of the ISC and now the new software.
