Re: Exchange 2010 Error

2011-06-09 Thread Del Hoobler
Ho Robert,

It appears that you may have corruption in one or more of your
Exchange database and/or log files. When the Exchange integrity
check fails (excvssic.exe), DP/Exchange will fail the backup
according to Microsoft rules. Since the backup cannot
succeed, log files are not getting truncated, which is
what is causing your backup to expand.

If you look at the audit file
(dc5c23b0-fcd5-477a-866e-4e91bdae89f2_Audit.txt)
you will see which database/log files are being
identified as being corrupt.

Once you identify the bad database, you can then back up
the rest of them to make sure that your backups continue.

You may then need to fix the corruption in
the Exchange database/log files. (Trying dismounting the
database and running Exchange tools like ESEUTIL
to help you diagnose this. Contact Microsoft if
you need help diagnosing Exchange database/file corruption.)

If the DP/Exchange information I supplied above does not
help you move forward, please open a PMR with IBM support.

Thanks,

Del

preview incremental backup?

2011-06-09 Thread Keith Arbogast
Is there a way a TSM client admin can preview what an incremental backup is
going to do? That is, without copying the new/changed files to a storage pool?
Someone here would like to do that. The only ideas I could offer were 'query
inclexcl' and comparing the timestamps on files and directories to the end time
of the last good backup.

Thank you,
Keith

No, you can run 1 NetWare server without a license. For recovery or
whatever purposes. And, what you're terminating is probably your
enterprise agreement, if you bought the licenses for the servers
(doubtful with anything past NW 4) you can still run the servers for
archival purposes, you just won't have any support with Novell if you
have a problem.

Stupid question time for which I am pretty sure I know the answer but
must
ask..

We are terminating our Netware license for Netware servers. So,
effective
July 1, we can not legally have any running/functioning Netware servers.

>From everything I understand (please correct me if I am wrong), you CAN
NOT restore Netware backups to anything other than a Netware server.

So, as far as I am concerned (and have told my last remaining Netware
server admins), any Netware backups after June 30, are mostly useless.
Besides, the contents have been migrated to other Windoz servers.

Yet we still have folks wanting to perform, last final backups of long
dismounted volumes (thus flushed out of TSM, long ago).

Am I correct on this? Am I missing anything?

Again you are a great help

I figured the bad database EXCSRVA\Ac04-Users19 , did is a way to exclude it
from the backup here the command I run:

start /B tdpexcc backup * full /EXCLUDEDAGPASsive /tsmoptfile=dsm.opt
/logfile=excsch.log >> excfull.log

Can I add on this syntax an exclude one ?

Only way I can make the firewall and tsm play nice is to specify as follows:

* tcpip client port
tcpclientport 1501

*dsmcad dsmagent ports,
Webport 1552 1553

*web client HTTPport
HTTPport 1581

* TSM server port
TCPport 1500

Then specify port openings in the firewall for 1501 1552 and 1553.
We never use the web client.

Another export question

2011-06-09 Thread Hughes, Timothy
Question - this may be obvious but I want to make absolutely sure

Does exporting data at the same time it is backing up cause a issue?

Example: I am exporting a client node from TSM SERVER A to TSM SERVER B and
it's a large export and it has run more than a day. Can I allow the backups to
run (on the TSM Server A original server) while the export is still going on
without causing a problem? It will eventually export any new data over to the
new TSM SERVER correct?

Note: I created the node on the TSM SERVER B but it's going to backup on there
yet of course

Thanks

Re: Another export question

2011-06-09 Thread Lee, Gary D.
I just finished one of these.

I did not back up data to the original server, tsm-a in your case.
I set all backups to occur to tsm-b.

Just did not run expiration on tsm-serverb until the export was finished.

If things got tight, I suspended the export to free up resources, then resumed
as necessary.

It was very slow. About two terrabyte in something around 96 hours.
Won't do that again unless forced.

Hope this helps.

We are having a issue with a Windows 2008 client backing up thru a firewall I
believe someone had issues Windows 2008 clients due to a firewall were there
any executables added to the firewall? Or just ports?

Thanks in advance

Re: Another export question

Gary Thanks!

I suspended the export also during the evening, but I had dissociated the node
from backup on the original TSM Server A so it didn't backup. However this
export is taking long and I don' want to go without another backup so I would
like for the node to backup (on TSM SERVER A).

I am thinking I could suspend the export and let it just backup to TSM SERVER A
as usual then in the morning dissociate the backup and start the export and it
will eventually export the new backups data over to TSM SERVER B. Of course
that would slow up the export and it will run just that much longer.

Best Regards

I just finished one of these.

I did not back up data to the original server, tsm-a in your case.
I set all backups to occur to tsm-b.

Just did not run expiration on tsm-serverb until the export was finished.

If things got tight, I suspended the export to free up resources, then resumed
as necessary.

It was very slow. About two terrabyte in something around 96 hours.
Won't do that again unless forced.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
