Re: upgrade 5.5.4 to 6.2.4 problem
Hello Gary, Thank you for drawing our attention to the issue with the DSMSERV LOADFORMAT utility section in the Tivoli Storage Manager documentation. Our development and test teams investigated the issue and agreed on documentation updates. The following sample command will be provided for running the DSMSERV LOADFORMAT utility on AIX, HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris operating systems: dsmserv loadformat dbdir=/tsmdb001 activelogsize=8192 activelogdirectory=/activelog archlogdirectory=/archlog archfailoverlogdirectory=/archfaillog mirrorlogdirectory=/mirrorlog The following sample command will be provided for running the DSMSERV LOADFORMAT utility on Windows operating systems: dsmserv -k server2 loadformat dbdir=d:\tsm\db001 activelogsize=8192 activelogdirectory=e:\tsm\activelog archlogdirectory=f:\tsm\archlog archfailoverlogdirectory=g:\tsm\archfaillog mirrorlogdirectory=h:\tsm \mirrorlog These updates will be available in the next refresh of the information center. Thanks again for your comments, which help us to improve our technical publications. Ingrida Cazers Tivoli Storage Manager information developer
TDP for SQL cloptset question
TDP 5.5.5.1 & 6.3.1.0 I want to change my central cloptset for SQL database backups so that each stream of full, diff or log goes to a different mgmtclass, with meta all going to a different mgmtclass. Can someone tell me if this syntax is correct? Re: hsm for windows problem
I am able to use the command line tools. The problem is that a partition (drive g:) has been removed. The data is no longer needed. I would like to remove it from hsm and the tsm server. I believe this would involve setting up the g: volume for a reconcile. I will also have other questions as time goes along. Are there any case studies or best practice documents? Also, how to make different drives do their hsm to different file spaces? And What are, and how do I create hardware mappings? These are just some. The reconciliation is the most urgent. What I meant to say was... Grigori, 1. Can you run this again from a command-line window using TDPEXCC.EXE? What do you see? - on the screen of the command-line window? - in the DSIERROR.LOG file? - in the TDPEXCC.LOG file? 2. Can you try to run a backup of a database that does not have the underscore ("_") character in the name? Quick IBM search yields this: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21499737 As a default on our VM's we have the 2008R2 images set to allow Remote Management (not the same as remote desktop). You can enable this by following this MS KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976839 Think about this carefully though as it probably has security implications that a bank may consider unacceptable. Re: Journaling DB utility - where is it?
You need to look around under patches - client. The utilities are updated whenever the format of the JBB database changes. The latest one that I'm aware of is at: ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com//storage/tivoli-storage-management/patches/client/v6r1/Windows/unsupportedjbbutilities Regards, Hans-Jørgen Bergmann 7. mars 2013 kl. 09:42 skrev Rick Harderwijk : > Hi, > > I'm trying to see if my journaling is working correctly as far as > exclusions are concerned. Journaling DB utility - where is it?
Hi, I'm trying to see if my journaling is working correctly as far as exclusions are concerned. From the Tivoli Problem Determination Guide I learned there is a utitliy called dbviewb.exe and that I should be able to download it from IBMs software ftp site. I'm not sure where to look, and all obvious directories (to me, at least) yielded no results. Can anyone on the list help me out on this? It will be most appreciated. Kind regards, Rick
