HI, Zoltan,

we have the same problem. We opened also a case for this. The result
was that the expire process and the reclamation process (in our case it
was only the copy storage pool) should not run at the same time.
We try to disable now the reclamation process if front of the

Export node +bad tape

2014-02-05 Thread mik
Hi everybody,

I have a question, i want to export the node on my new tsm with new TS3200.
I have the old tsm (with lto3) the 2 tape driver was now down before finish
move data to disk.
I have always 9tape with data but if i do the export the export search data on
tape but the tapedriver off the export node failed. (normal...)

If i delete vol vol_name discarddata=yes in the 9 tape when i do the export the
data can't be read on that tape and the export was successfull ? (i know all
the data on this tape was lost)

Regards, Mickael.

Re: Database Backup Failure

2014-02-05 Thread white jeff
I am seeing the same 2428 issue at least twice weekly. We have four v6.3.4
servers running on Windows 2008 R2.

When i rerun the backup, it works fine. The DB2DIAG log file provides more
information. I will have to get around to reporting this to support at some

Also, is there a way on the TSM console to query what the sqlcode means??

Re: Diagnosing ANR1439E Allocate prohibited - transaction failed.

2014-02-05 Thread Zoltan Forray
Frankly, I think it has something to do with the 6.3.4.200 patches. All of
my 6.3 servers are at 6.3.4.200 except for this one (HADES), which is at
6.3.4.000. I will schedule to upgrade to 6.3.4.300.

The expires are kicked off at the same time on all servers. Naturally,
reclaim then kicks in, since the thresholds are at 66%.

The errors stopped when I canceled the reclaim on HADES.

Thanks for the feedback...

Re: Can't find node

2014-02-05 Thread George Huebschman
Are you doing server prompted or client polling backups? The ANR8212W
message indicates Prompted backups.
If you are indeed doing server prompted backups, then I doubt that
uninstalling the TSM client from the client host will stop the TSM server
from trying to prompt the client.
The selects you ran are only pointed to the DB tables, they will not try
to connect to a domain. They will not cause the messages you posted.
If you uninstalled the TSM Client from the Client host, then the scheduled
backups (and or archives) will show up as MISSED. To stop that you need
to either delete the schedule association (del assoc domain_name
schedule_name node_name.
As long as the defunct client is still registered to a schedule on the TSM
server, the TSM server is going to keep trying to contact it, assuming you
are using Server Prompted scheduling.
If you have other nodes in the same domain and you are using server prom
pted scheduling (I have never used it, so I defer to others' experience),
then the TSM server is going to keep trying to contact that domain. If
that domain is unreachable by the TSM Server, then those backups will
MISS.

If TSM does not have any entries for the host in its DB, it effectively
does not know about the client host. So, if it's trying to contact that
client, that client's information must be there in the DB in the nodes
table.

If looking up by the tcp_name isn't working and you have the node name,
look the node up by the node name rather than the tcp_name:
select node_name, tcp_name, tcp_address from nodes where
node_name like 'NODE_%'
(You are probably aware that the text is case sensitive. )
or, the brute force way:
select node_name, tcp_name from nodes order by tcp_name

If you want to find the schedule:
q sched nodes=node_name

Try this

Select node_name, schedule_name, domain_name from associations where
node_name=upper('node you wish to find')

This will show you any schedules associated with that node.

AW: TSM REPORTING and EMAILS

2014-02-05 Thread Michael malitz
Hallo James,

one alternative would be to use / test the FREEWARE version of the Power
Administrator for TSM.

There we allow one set of reports similar to the old legacy Operational
Reporting
which was officially available with the MMC (Microsoft Management Console)
until TSM version 5.5.

You can modify our version of the TSM Operational Reporting and can add
your select statement(s) as an additional report within the report package,
schedule the execution and e-mail the output to you at regular times.

If you need further information pls feel free to send me an-email

Rgds Michael

p.s. in the professional version we have of course a lot more out-of-the-box
reports. If you want you can use the prof version 45 days
and than switch to the freeware one, just install on top of the prof one,
that's it..

Subject: TSM REPORTING and EMAILS

Hello Everyone -

I recently upgraded to version 7.1 of TSM. However, I have lost some
functionality in the process. I used to send from the Tivoli Management
Console an email to myself showing all that the backups completed, missed or
failed. I can no longer do this with version 7.1.

I do not want to setup monitoring in the OC because that is not really that
slick.

Is there away I can use the command I am using from the tivoli command line,
write a script and schedule the sending of the email

Here is the commands I am using

SELECT entity AS Node name, CAST(sum(bytes/1024/1024) AS decimal(8,2)) AS
MB xfer, SUBSTR (CAST(min (start_time) AS char(29)),1,10) AS start date,
SUBSTR (CAST(min (start_time) AS char(29)),12,8) AS start time, SUBSTR
(CAST(max (end_time) AS char(29)),1,10) AS end date, SUBSTR (CAST(max
(end_time) AS char(29)),12,8) AS end time FROM summary WHERE
activity='BACKUP' AND start_time=current_timestamp - 24 hours GROUP BY
entity

q event * * begind=today-1 endd=today endt=05:00:00 f=s

Any Help would greatly be appreciated

Thank you
James
