Password synchronisation of TDPERP for SAP HANA on a scale-out cluster

2015-11-10 Thread Andrew Collyer
Many thanks Efim

I was almost there with it and your assistance pointed me at my problem.
Although having thought I'd set up the proxy nodes correctly, I'd missed
the ASNODENAME parameter from the dsm.sys files and wasn't actually
accessing TSM via these nodes.

I've re-configured it now and can see the proxy sessions coming through so
all looks good now.

Thanks again for your help.

Andrew

Re: sql assistance with getting files backed up and their sizes

2015-11-10 Thread Thomas Denier
The symptoms you are describing sound more like retries of files that changed
while TSM was reading them than growth in the size of individual files. Having
the 'compress' option set to 'no' would, as far as I know, rule out the
possibility of growth in the size of individual backup files. The worst growth
I have ever seen for individual files was about 30%, not the almost 100% you
mention. Retries caused by changing files would be noted explicitly in the
client log files.

How do I add the object_id field for comparison with the contents table, but
not print it?

Re: Activate SKLM on existing TS3500 partition

2015-11-10 Thread Kevin Boatright
We only relabel scratch on our VTL. On the 3500 physical library, we don't
relabel the tapes. Once a scratch tape is mounted, it will encrypt the data on
that tape. When we implemented the TKLM encryption, I created another copypool
to speed up the process just to get all of the tapes encrypted quickly.

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for your answer. It entered in my spambox, so it took a while before I
noticed it :-)

So if I understand well, we can safely activate encryption on our existing
library partition.
But do we need to use "relabel scratch" on the library definition in TSM?
Or does the robot recognise the use of normal scratch tapes without relabel as
well?

Thanks,
Maurice

This section in the User's Guide may help you:

It is best if the /opt file system (more specifically the dsm.sys file)
does not fail over. That way, each host uses its own
TSM node name/password for authentication.

sql assistance with getting files backed up and their sizes

2015-11-10 Thread Lee, Gary
I have at least two linux clients v6.4 tsm server 6.3.4 whose bytes backed up
are nearly double the bytes inspected.
Compress is set to no.

I would like to find the offending files which are growing.

The following script shows files backed up yesterday, for a specific node,
(thanks andy raibeck), but I would like to add and order by file size.

How do I add the object_id field for comparison with the contents table, but
not print it?
Script follows:

select concat(filespace_name, concat(hl_name, ll_name)) as "FILE NAME", -
   backup_date -
   from backups -
   where -
  backup_date>=(select actual_start -
 from events -
 where scheduled_start>'2013-01-01' and -
   date(scheduled_start)=date(current_timestamp - 1 day) and -
   node_name='upper($1)' and -
   status='Completed') -
 and -
  backup_date<=(select completed -
 from events -
 where scheduled_start>'2013-01-01' and -
   date(scheduled_start)=date(current_timestamp ) and -
   node_name='upper($1)' and -
   status='Completed') -

Password synchronisation of TDPERP for SAP HANA on a scale-out cluster

2015-11-10 Thread Andrew Collyer
Hi all

I?m hoping for some advice on the configuration of TDPERP for HANA.

In our environment we have two HANA Linux servers running a single
instance in an Active/Passive setup. TDP is configured on both servers
and I have a single TDP node defined on a single TSM server. I am using a
proxy node within the TDP configuration of the two servers to handle the
communication back to the single TDP node on the TSM Server.

The problem I have is that when a HANA failover occurs, the TDP config on
the newly active server does not have the correct TDP node password as it
isn?t maintained or synchronised with that on the original server. I
looked at copying the init.bki file but this seems to be encrypted
with something unique to the server.

Is there a mechanism for synchronising the TDP node password between
servers on Linux? Any recommendations or work-arounds?

Thanks in advance.
