Re: How to prevent leading spaces in SQL output

2017-01-26 Thread Harris, Steven
Hi Eric

There are also the STRIP and TRIM sql functions - same function for these but
slightly different syntax.

SELECT strip(cast(float(used_space_mb)*100/total_space_mb AS DECIMAL(4,2)))
FROM log

However, when I tested this on a number less than 1, the implicit cast of the
number to a string lost the leading zero. That may or may not suit your use
case.

Hi Eric,

'-tab' does the magic:
[~]$ dsmadmc -tab -se=TSM -id=admin -pa=admin -dataonly=yes "SELECT CAST
(float(used_space_mb)*100/total_space_mb AS DECIMAL(4,2)) FROM log"
0.98

[~]$ dsmadmc -se=TSM -id=admin -pa=admin -dataonly=yes "SELECT CAST(float
(used_space_mb)*100/total_space_mb AS DECIMAL(4,2)) FROM log"
  0.98

Bye

Have you heard anything back from IBM on your PMR? I just had another
user call with the same problem, except that they ran traces to figure out
where it was failing and the directory it stops on does not have but a few
sub/nested directories. Fortunately, the TESTFLAGS workaround seems to
have worked for them.

If you Google the error message, someone with a Windows 2016 server is also
experiencing the "1400" problem.

Re: Advice for archiving 80 billion of small files.

2017-01-26 Thread Bo Nielsen
Hi All,

Thanks you for all the replies. It was very helpful for me, but not for the
management.
I think they want anything else. Because many of the files have Japanese or
Chinese characters,
So it's difficult to index the Tar files.

Do you need to recover files individually? If so, then image backup (at least
on its own) won't be a good option. One thing you could do is tar up chunks
(maybe a million files) and archive/backup those chunks. Keep a catalog
(hopefully a database with indexes) of which files are in which tar balls, and
then when you go to restore you only have to recover 1/8 of your data to
get one file.
