Tape utilization not logic
Hi All, Why is it the tape utilization (q vol) hits more than 400GB even though the tape can actually utilize about 400GB (compressed)? Why is this happening? Will the data in the tape still recovarable? Thanks and regards Ameerul Madzali ___ Do you Yahoo!? Declare Yourself - Register online to vote today! http://vote.yahoo.com
How to schedule
HI All, How do you handle a request to do backup on last Sunday of each month. This backup (or rather archive) is to be kept for a year. How can we accommodate this in TSM (schedule)? One guy is comparing with Veritas which he claims can do it. If TSM schedule can't handle it, anyone has done it anyway thru script or whatever? Please! Maybe i didn't see the solution here but you guys do. The request came from the management for their business policy. Thanks and best regards Ameerul Madzali __ Do you Yahoo!? Take Yahoo! HELP needed. Can't use rmt3 & rmt4 for SAN backup.
Hi All, I have this scenario on the TSM server: -TSM Svr 5.2.3 -TSM Client 5.2.2 -TSM SAN 5.2.2 -Tape library 3584 LTO with 4 drives I have another clientA with SAN attached. It can see (lsdev -Cc) the 3rd and 4 th drive of the 3584. 1st and 2nd is by another clientB. For clientB, after configuring the storage agent and test the backup, it manage to backup nicely thru LAN-free with no error. For clientA, after configuring, tested the backup, it gives error=46 on the dsmsta, could not mount tape. But the Tsm serverconsole, a drive has been mounted(different drive). Why is this? For client B,on the tsm server i configured the path for drive to /dev/rmt1 and /dev/rmt2 same as clientA since that is what is seen using lsdev -Cc tape for ClientA and ClientB. The difference for both client is that for clientB rmt1 on clientB maps excatly to the tsmsvr rmt1. This is check with lscfg -vl rmt1. But for clientA rmt1 maps to rmt3 of tsmsvr. The rmt is configured that way to separate the load of backups for clientA and clientB on to the tape drives. Pls help me to resolve this. Thanks and best regards Ameerul Madzali __ Do you Yahoo!? dsmadmc using non-root id access
Hi All, Has anyone got any idea whether it is possible to execute dsmadmc with non-root id? Operators can use web-admin and access using specific web-admin id. What if the web is 'down' and only access is telnet? Operator has to telnet but uses 'root' id and then dsmadmc to access the tsm server admin??? Anyway to avoid using root id to execute the dsmadmc besides using .profile and run the dsmadmc immidiately once login? and when exits, logs out of UNIX? Can we use a e.g.tsmadm UNIX id and runs dsmadmc? Will there be any 'side effects'? Hope to get a reply for this soonest possible. Thanks and best regards Ameerul Madzali __ Do you Yahoo!? domino.doc storage manager with hp400ex
Hi all, Need help on this ASAP. It is like this. This customer has bought a Windows NT 4 SP4 (Netfinity3500) a while ago with HP400ex optical library (2 drives) attached to it via SCSI. They have a software, Domino.doc Storage Manager 2.1 that runs on it. They ask me to make it work together. I know that this software bundles ADSM3.1 together. And I can't check whether ADSM3.1 can support HP400ex or not. I know that TSM 3.7 and above does support it. I couldn't get the ADSMSCSI driver started. 1. Does anyone know whether HP400ex can be supported by ADSM3.1? I tried uninstalling the ADSM3.1 and installed the original ADSM3.1.2.1 CD (not bundle with Domino.doc Storage Manager). I manage to bring up the ADSMSCSI driver but could not define the optical library. It gives the error "ANR8418E Define library. An I/O error occured while accessing library" in the adsm error log and "The description of EventID(11) source(AdsmScsi) could not be found. It contains the following insertion strings: \Device\lb6.0.0.3" in the Windows NT event log. I have check the ANR error message description but it does not seem to go anywhere. 2. What should be the next step? 3. If really ADSM3.1 can't work with HP400ex, is there mentioned anywhere in black or white? Hope to hear from you guys/ladies soon.
