Re: Export Node with 24TB to other TSM on other Site

2008-03-22 Thread Amos Hagay ADSM
Hi All,

10x for the fast reply, indeed I have one filespace of 24TB, im familiar
with the export/import node when the TSM
Servers are in the same site, or even in the same LAN, since those 2 sites
are connected in a VPN Connection,
And I try to export some data, and its take ages, and I wanted to be
creative :-),
I guess I don't have any other option, to ship the TSM Server and my TS3200
Library to my Main Site, and do all the
Process in the Main Site, and I guess from my Tests its more or less 6-7TB
Per Day, until next week it will be finished :-)

10x for your fast reply

Amos

Amos,
If your node has more than one filespace I suggest you seriously
consider export via filespace (server-to-server) rather than via node.
If there is a problem you will be better able to try again without
resending 'stuff' from a filespace that has already been sent.
We do a lot of exports (server-to-server) and have found the filespace
method works better. We are currently in the process of upgrading from
Server V5.3 to V5.5 so don't have re-startable export available yet (new
in V5.5).
Export works well, but you need to have the infrastructure to support
it.

Good luck!
Brad

In the beginning I thought that I can export the Node to the other

checkin the volumes into the library,

But its not work in this way, on the other hand I thought to create a
Backup set, or event export the node to Tapes, but I don't have enough
volumes because the library is full,

And I also have a problem because I don't have an operators on the site,
everything is done remotely.

Is there any way to move the Client meta Data to the other server and
then send the volumes from one site to another ?

Or is there any way to export the node data to the second site ?

Hi all,

I my big issue is to backup 3 FS on AIX Machine with more that 37,000,000
files, I cant take snapshots because those files are the images storage of
the Content Manager(its all tiffs),
I manage to run the Journal Based Backup on AIX, but only on 32Bit machine
with jfs, not jfs2, my prod machine run AIX 64Bit and jfs2, the jbb bundle
its 32bit, and I think that there isn't a version for jfs2 and jbb.

Hi Sandra,

First to Disable one of the Drive use the upd drive command to take the
Drive Offline

e.g: upd drive [Library Name] [Drive Name] Online=no

and then after u replace the Drive, update the Drive path of that Drive
thus TSM will Detect The new drive serial number,
if u get problems u always can Delete the path of the Drive, and the
Drive
and Recreate them Again.

the output of q volh: ( well not all but ... )

the command: del volh type=dbb todate="anyvalue" -> always answers with:

Hi everyone,
Have a question which has been bugging me all weekend. Set up some
TSM nodes to back up SQL servers using TDP for SQL 5.2.1.
Once installed and configured to test the product works did a manual
backup of a database, which completed o.k. However when I went to look at
the sqfull.log file it give a message " ACO5458W - The TSM server 'backup
delete' settingfor node TSM server NODENAME is setb to NO. Should be set
to YES for proper operation. Processing will continue".

This looks as though no backup data can be deleted from the server even
though expiration may indicate that some backup data has expired and can
be deleted.

Can anybody shed any light on this for me please ?

Got some queries

1. Will Gen2 drives be able to read and write(new as well as append to

yes
2. What speed will I get out of the new setup? Gen2 speed or Gen1 speed?
using LTO1 tapes on LTO2 drives you'll get speeds inbetween the two.you
will have to test for your specific environment.

3. If I coexist the new gen2 drives with the existing gen1 drives where
can
I get stuck?
you have to get the feature upgrade for the 3583.it needs to be
partitioned in separate libraries for LTO1 and 2 drives.then you have to
assign the storage columns to the separate libraries.LTO1 drives cannot
write LTO2 media.TSM will see two medium changers(libraries).

Re: question about share library

2004-03-27 Thread Amos Hagay
Yes,
But if u run both TSM on AIX, Please notice that
The rmt devices are the same on both Machines e.g

Server 1
/dev/rmt1
/dev/rmt2

Server 2
/dev/rmt1
/dev/rmt2

And don't forget to define the paths from the Library manager to the
Library Client.
