Re: expire question
Define a new domain, define mgmtclass and copygroups with higher retention, define client schedules, update nodes to new domain, associate to client schedules, recycle the client scheduler and you are done. >Thanks & Regards, >Samiran Das -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Joy Hanna Sent: Monday, October 22, 2007 1:24 PM To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Subject: expire question Hello, Due to a legal request we are being asked not to expire any data for some specific TSM clients. Is there a way to exclude a group of clients from expiring any data for a time period? I see there is a way to do this for archived data. I'm talking incremental backup data. If I stop expiring altogether I think it wouldn't be long before I put my whole environment at risk. The only way I can think of to do this would be to rename all filespaces where I suspect there might be data I do not want to expire. This however would cause all those renamed filespaces to back up in full tonight. We're talking several TB of file server data. Any ideas? Sincerely, Joy Joy Hanna Enterprise Storage Group I.T. So, Richard: did you pull that APAR out of your encyclopedic memory, or is there a search interface for the APARs which it would benefit me to learn? The simple search on the support web page gave me unedifying results: a couple of redbooks. - Allen S. Re: Keeping a backup copy
1. Define a new mgmtclass and copygroup with 14 days retention and assign that as default mgmtclass. 2. Update the copygroup of old mgmtclass to retention of whatever days you want. Is there a way to keep a backup of an Exchange Information Store for however long he needs it? It is in a domain that is set up for 14-day retention. I told him that I didn't think there was anything I could do but halt expiration for the whole enterprise, which would be ridiculous. So... :-) God bless you!!! Re: HELP! MAJOR ISSUE!
Joni, (Q stg oracle f=d) output shows that currently migration is in progress. Migration in Progress?: Yes Amount Migrated (MB): 649.67 Elapsed Migration Time (seconds): 2,697 However migration seems to be running very slowly (649 MB migrated in 2697 seconds). As the stgpool is large (737 GB), you are not seeing any Pct Util change. Migration is supposed to run with 4 processes. So please issue (q proc) and see how many migration processes are running. Also please check (q devc lto2 f=d) and see how many mount points are available. Since when this problem started? Do you remember any TSM or hardware environment changes recently?
