Windows 2003 Storage Server
Hi, Is Windows 2003 Storage Server supported by TSM? Is there anyone who backs up data stored on a NAS with Windows 2003 Storage Server? I'm looking for some experience but I didn't really find anything on the net. Regards, Imre
General question on read/write errors
Hi, I issued a show libr command on one of my TSM servers and noticed the following in its output: Read: total errors 359 Read: corrected errors 42443 Read: correction algorithm applied 42090 Read: total groups processed78095374 Write: total errors 16665 Write: corrected errors 16665 Write: correction algorithm applied 48 Write: total groups processed1964939533 Does anyone know what these errors mean? Should I care about it? Is it normal to have such errors? TSM version: 5.2.2.0 (Win2K server) drive is an Exabyte 8mm (Mammoth-1). Thanks in advance, Imre
Re: NTUSER.DAT/LOG getting failed during backup!
Hi, These files belong to the user profile of the SAPServiceBS user that is a Windows user account used by a service currently running on your nodes. I don't think that it is necessary to backup these files (at least I usually exclude them). However you might try to use the Open File Support, I haven't tried it so far. Re: Backup doesn't confirm completion.
Hi, I had the same problem though with slightly different versions (server is Windows 2000 Server with TSM 5.2.1.1, client is Windows 2000 Server with TSM 5.2.0.0). I upgraded the client to 5.2.0.6 and backups have been completing correctly since then. Question regarding an HP DLT VS80 drive
Hi, I have a problem using a HP DLT VS80 manual drive with TSM (it is actually a Benchmark tape drive). When I try to label a newly bought HP DLT Tape IV tape then I get the following result: ANR2017I Administrator ADMINISTRATOR issued command: LABEL libv dlt_vs80 cl01 overwrite=yes ANR0984I Process 2 for LABEL LIBVOLUME started in the BACKGROUND at 16:26:35. ANR8799I LABEL LIBVOLUME: Operation for library DLT_VS80 started as process 2. ANR8326I 001: Mount DLT volume CL01 R/W in drive DLT_VS80 (mt1.0.0.2) of library DLT_VS80 within 60 minutes. ANR9751E The volume in drive 'mt1.0.0.2' is not compatible with the drive. ANR8802E LABEL LIBVOLUME process 2 for library DLT_VS80 failed. ANR0985I Process 2 for LABEL LIBVOLUME running in the BACKGROUND completed with completion state FAILURE at 16:29:28. I found the following APAR: IC36036 LABEL LIBV FAILES ON DLT1 DRIVE DUE TO UNKNOWN MEDIA TYPE, but it should be implemented in 5.1.7.0 and I'm running that version. Environment information: Windows 2000 Server SP3, TSM 5.1.7.0 Anybody has any ideas before I open a PMR? Thanks in advance, Imre

Re: Vedr.: define devclass file on w2k not working on mounted share?
Hi Tobias, Windows services by default run as a Local System account and this account usually does not have access to network resources. I usually create a user for running TSM services and give appropriate permissions to this user. Hi, Try to use an UNC name (\\server\sharename\directory) instead of using drive letter f: . Licensing question (technical, not pricing :-)
Hi, I've just upgraded a TSM server 4.2.1.9 running on W2K to version 5.1.6.2, but I think I did something wrong. I directly installed 5.1.6.2 on 4.2.1.9 without installing any intermediate version. After it I found that the TSM server was not able to load adsmlicn.dll. I installed the licensing component from 5.1.5.0, so the server now loads the dll, but all my licenses have disappeared. Furthermore I cannot register any license now. Anybody has an idea what can I do now? Thanks in advance, Imre

Problem using HP DLT VS80 with TSM 5.1.1 on Win2000
Hi all, I'm new to the list, this is my first post. I've just installed a TSM server on an IBM xSeries machine. The machine is equipped with an HP DLT VS80 internal tape drive, but TSM will not write to tape. The error message I'm getting is (using TSM device driver): ANR8302E I/O error on drive DLT_VS80 (mt1.0.0.2) (OP=WRITE, Error Number=87, CC=207, KEY=05, ASC=24, ASCQ=00, SENSE=F0.00.05.00.00.00.01.16.00.00.00.00.24.00.00.CF.00.02.82.00.00.00. 00.00.- 15.00.9A.BB.A4., Description=Device is not in a state capable of performing request). Refer to Appendix D in the 'Messages' manual for recommended action. I tried to use the operating system device driver (with GENERICTAPE device), the result was: ANR8328I 002: GENERICTAPE volume SAL01 mounted in drive DLT_VS80 (mt1.0.0.2). ANR8311E An I/O error occurred while accessing drive DLT_VS80 (mt1.0.0.2) for WRITE operation, errno = 1. The hardware setup is probably correct since the TapeWare application that came with the drive is capable of performing backup on this machine. Anybody has an idea what I can do with it? Thanks in advance, Imre Kloknicer
