Re: Cannot add server to TSMReporter

2007-07-13 Thread Margaret Clark
Are you right-clicking the Tivoli Storage Manager entry in the MMC, or
something lower down in the tree?
(Like the local server entry, maybe?)
Add a New TSM Server option is only grayed out for me on the lower
entries.

Hi *SM-ers!
I'm trying to add a new TSM server to the TSM Operational Reporter,
but
when I right-click the tree, the Add a New TSM Server option is
grayed
out...
Does anybody know what could be causing this?
Thank you very much in advance!

Re: ISC for 5.4 with 5.3 server?

Yes you can. What you can't do is upgrade the servers to 5.4 and keep the ISC
at 5.3. - Margaret

I have 5.3 TSM servers with the 5.3 ISC.
Can I upgrade the ISC/Admin center to 5.4 without upgrading my TSm servers?

Admin Center upgrade - FYI

2007-04-19 Thread Margaret Clark
We have been running Administration Center 5.3.3
and Integrated Solutions Console 6.0.1.0 on a
Windows 2003 server.

After upgrade of one of three TSM servers to 5.4.0.2,
the Admin Center no longer worked for that server.

Upgrade of the ISC and Admin Center failed until the
\ISC601\...\ directory tree was restored from backup,
and the original \ISC601\ACUNINST.BAT and
\ISC601\_ISCUNINST\UNINSTALLER.EXE were used
to deinstall first the Admin Center and then the ISC.
After that and another reboot, installation succeeded.

Re: Scheduled Operational Reports will not run

2007-01-03 Thread Margaret Clark
FYI: I found that when using standalone Operational Reporting,
to update the password for the administrator account used
when sending inquiries to a server, using the account button
on the Computer Information tab page was ineffective.
It was necessary to remove the server definition and re-create it.

This in turn meant that accumulated reports for that server in the
tsmreptweb directory were deleted; restored from backup,
the old reports are picked up by default.htm in the next run.

I never did find out what was 8/8 full as reported by
TraceReportSvc.txt.

Scheduled Operational Reports will not run

2006-12-28 Thread Margaret Clark
We have ISC 6.0.1 running on a Windows 2003 server.
We have been trying to install the standalone TSM
Operational Reporting package on the same server.
I have a report named Daily configured, and it
runs very well using TSMREPT from the command line.
The service is configured to run the Daily report
every morning for each of three TSM servers; for
example, the Daily report for server ADSMA is activated,
scheduled to run at 06:30, Hours covered = 24,
Repeat every = 1, Web Versions = 35; the report
service for ADSMA is configured to use my account and
password (as used successfully from the command line).

No scheduled reports run.
There is no sign that OR ever contacts the TSM servers.
I have checked administrator accounts and passwords
over and over.

The nearest thing to an error message I can find is in
c:\Program Files\Tivoli\Tsm\Console\TraceReportSvc.txt
- example follows.
Something is 8/8 Full. Anyone know what that means?
Any ideas gratefully received. - Margaret

I struggled through the installation of ISC 6.0.1 in May 2006, using the
standard installation instructions.
Here are a few extra things from my own notes.

1) If you have to start again after an unsuccessful installation attempt,
delete any previous installation directories in order to avoid this error:
   c:\PROGRA~1\IBM\ISC601\runtime\_uninst already exists
(In the end, I had to reinstall Windows to achieve this.)

2) Before you begin, download and install latest JRE from Sun Microsystems to
avoid this error:
The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.4 or higher must already be
installed.

3) Notice the problem description on the IBM support site entitled,
IC47611: SILENT INSTALLATION OF ISC 6.0.1 AND ADMINCENTER 5.3.2 DOES NOT WORK
PROPERLY.

4) In May 2006 the latest download was TSMadminCenter5330.exe,
which contained a ReadMe file that referenced TSM_ISC_5330_WIN.exe,
 which didn't exist.
IBM support apologetically said that I could use TSM_ISC_5320_WIN.exe instead.

5) After successful installation, TSM Scheduler service started and exited
three times, apparently told to shut down by the acceptor daemon.

This only applies to TSM 5.2, 5.3 is not a problem.

Good luck deinstalling IE 7.0. IE 6.0 won't reinstall with 7.0 in place,
and all the usual methods of deinstalling 7.0 were flatly refused by XP.

I always did like Firefox anyway.
