TSM Admin Center interface not working
Hi list, I have TSM Server 5.5.5.0 on a Windows 2008 SP2 box running OK. I have just installed TSM Admin Center 6.1.0.0 on the same machine. I can logon using the defaut user, iscadmin, and I was even able to connect to the TSM Server..but.after that, nothing really works. No option on the Manage Servers menu is working.after selecting the TSM Server, and selecting any option from the pull down menu, like "Modify Server Connection" for instance, nothing happens. Any other option I choose from the main menu, like "Storage Devices", shows me a "ANRW0017E The server connection currently does not include the credentials required to access the server" message. The problem is that I can´t fix the connection because of what I have just explained above I have already tried reinstalling the TSM ACbut nothing changed. Any help is appreciated. Mario

I'd start by checking the device class assigned to your TSM db backups, and assure that the drive type is consistent with the "L3" tape at issue. You can take a look at Technote 1303094 to see if that pertains. We don't know your library type, but possibly it is configured such that it's operating in a 6-char volser mode rather than 8, so the L3 is not being conveyed to TSM for media type to be known. Re: Exchange SCR or CCR Clustering
Del, I´ve checked with the Exch guysthe configuration is SCC.but the Legacy backup is behaving like I´ve told you before.there is no error, but it copies nothing. The strange thing for me is why the checkbox from the Mailbox Database from First Storage Group and Second Storage Group on the Backup window appears with an X instead of unchecked. I believe this maybe the reason the backup is not copying anything.I just don´t know how to change thisor even if this is something to be solved on the TDP side or on the Exchange itself Mario From: Del Hoobler To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Sent: Mon, February 22, 2010 9:30:13 PM Subject: Re: Exchange SCR or CCR Clustering Mario, About CCR vs. SCR vs. SCC. Hi list, How do I know if the Exchange 2007 running on a MSCS 2 node configuration is configured as SCR or CCR? The TDP for Exchange is connecting to the Exchange Information Store and I can see the mail databases, but VSS backup option is disabled and the Mailbox Database checkbox is marked with an X..so I cannot perform a Legacy Backup. Re: RMAN error allocating TDP channel....RESOLVED
Hi Harry...and all who answered to this I went through all this permission checking and password and many stuff several times with no success. Turns out that the problem was about LICENSE ! The agent.lic file was not there...probably because I downloaded the TDP agent from the FTP websiteand there is no License Package thereat least on the version I´ve got. Hi Grigori, The tdpexc.cfg file exists and is configured.I don´t think the problem lies in it..this is more like an architectural issue I believe..it´s not clear to me where I should install the TDP agent..considering the 3 machines scenario: 1 front end with the Exchange 2007 Server and 2 cluster nodes where the Exchange DBs reside. backups not using DISKPOOL
Hi list, Recently I had to remove the DISKPOOL due to some reorganization at the Storage. I migrated all data to tape and altered all Copygroups to point backup and archive operations direct to TAPEPOOL. Everything worked fine. Now I have the DISKPOOL created again and all volumes ONLINE. Once again I changed all Copygroups, the DESTINATION parameter, to DISKPOOL and NEXT Storage Pool to TAPEPOOL. The problem is...scheduled bakups and archive are ignoring the DISKPOOL and are still sending data directly to tape I double checked all Copygroups and activated all Policy Sets to make sure the alterations are ACTIVE. What could be missing? Mario

Backup Stgpool using 2 drives taking too long
Hi list, The environment is TSM Server 5.5 running on a Windows 2003 box with a IBM ULT3580-TD4 SCSI (2 drives) connected. There is a backup stgpool process running on background for more than 12 hours (several schedules were missed during this time). The problem is that, at some point, both drives stay IDLE for more than 20 minutes...then start reading/writing again (for a short time I might add). The process would be long over by now if this was not happening...what could be wrong and how can I put the drives to work non-stop, if possible...?? Any process that uses both drives in this fashion, like an EXPORT for example, is behaving the same way... Thanks Mario

Hi list, How can I tell TSM to put the data in a SCRATCH tape in a Archive operation, either from the client or from a defined schedule? Thanks Mario
Re: SV: Library unavailable
Hi, I am using the command line. As for the serial number, I´ll remove the defined library and redefine it without using this clause, and then create the path...and see what happens. I´ve already removed TSM and reinstalled it. The IBMtaped daemon is up and running. IBMtaped version is 1.5.3 and I ran the IBMtapeutil facility to check the Media Changer and Drives and everything seems to be ok, at least at OS level. But you need to define the path between. Another thing I see is that the Serial number that you specify on both strings is different. Try to use the command line instead of the GUI, >define libr LIBLT01 libtype=SCSI >define path TSMSERVER liblt01 srct=server destt=libr device=/dev/X >define dr liblt0 DRIVE0 >define path TSMSERVER drive0 srct=server destt=dr libr=liblt01 device=/dev/ >define dr liblt0 DRIVE1 >define path TSMSERVER drive1 srct=server destt=dr libr=liblt01 device=/dev/ >define dr liblt0 DRIVE2 >define path TSMSERVER drive2 srct=server destt=dr libr=liblt01 device=/dev/ If it still don't work. Make a search in the message file for your drives or look in /proc for more information. You maybe also need to upgrade your drivers for your IBM drives. Backup of Hyper-V Windows virtual machines
Hi all, Does anybody know if there is a special TSM Client, or TDP for that matter, to backup Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines while they are running? I didn´t find anything at IBM product webpage... Any ideas on how to accomplish that with TSM? Thanks Mario
