SV: ANR9999 message Lock acquisition - TSM 4.2.1.15 server

2002-08-14 Thread Nilsson Niklas

Good morning,

We are running TSM 4.2.1.15 on OS/390 2.10 and are having several issues.
One of these is poor performance since upgrading from 4.2.2.0 to 4.2.1.15.
Also we are receiving the following error message after issuing an update
storage pool command:

ANRD SSUTIL(943): ThreadId<15401> Lock acquisition (ixLock) failed for
SS
universe lock.
ANR2753I (DAILY_APL_MIGRATION_AVOID):ANR2033E UPDATE STGPOOL:
ANR2753I (DAILY_APL_MIGRATION_AVOID):Command failed - lock conflict.

This condition seems to occur when we are in a heavy backup period, which
since upgrading to 4.2.1.15 is very often. I need to test 4.2.2.0 before
upgrading to that release, we applied the 4.2.1.15 fix level at the
recommendation of Tivoli even thought 4.2.2.0 was available. Is anyone
running 4.2.2.0 on OS/390 2.10 and if so have you run into any gotcha's?

 Thanks for any input.

 - Brian

Problem using shared memory with DB/2 and AIX via TSM api

2002-01-15 Thread Nilsson Niklas

Hi folks!

I have a problem to use
Shared memory istead of tcpip sending data to the server.

Have changed the permissions
on the files in the api directory but it still doesn't work.

Getting permission denied
when I start the backup.

If I use tcpip it works
perfectly... Has anybody had simular problem or have any tips?!!

Regards Niklas

Hi Niklas,

give me the command you typed for unloading your DB.
Normally, if you specify scratch=yes, either with a tape devc
or a file one, TSM will allocate one volume, then another...

$ dsmserv unloaddb devc=DLTCLASS scratch=YES

check how many mount points are available at the same time in your devc

sned me your log offline if you want

DSMSERV UNLOADDB on S/390 running TSM 4.1.3

2001-04-10 Thread Nilsson Niklas

Hi!

Has anybody had problem doing a unloaddb on an S/390 system running 4.1.3???
We are trying to do a unload to tape but when the tape get full, the TSM
don't mount next tape.
Tried to do this to 3390-disc but got the same problem , when the disc get
full , "he" unmounts
the disc but never mounts the next one.
There is no problem if you do an export to a deviceclass=file or tape when
server is up and running.

Niklas

Niklas,

I thought the APAR IC26689 was specific to ADSM 3.1 and TSM 3.7. Did IBM
have you put this on for TSM 4.1.1 as well. I'm just curious. We did have
this same problem under TSM 3.7 and we did apply IC26689 which seemed to
fix this issue for us. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

 Brian.

Niklas,

What client are you running and what level of Netware? We have a problem
with the TSM 3.7 client and Netware 5.1. Our problem only occurs when we
are backing up the NDS tree and yes, memory is consumed. We have an open
problem with IBM/Tivoli as well as Novell on this issue but I feel that if
this is the problem that you have you should open a problem as well.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions please let me know.

Our TSM server running on a OS/390 serves multiple customers. For
each customer I have a separate policy domain & separate archive & backup
disk storage pools and when they migrate they migrate to a common 9840
cartridge storage pool. For those who are backing up more than one customer
from a TSM server, do you also have a separate 9840 cartridge or separate
3590 cartridge pool for each customer?
