TDP Licensing for an additional node on same server

2010-08-03 Thread Patel, Ankur
Hi All,

I have TDP for Databases configured to backup MS-SQL databases on a cluster.
TDP is installed on the active and passive nodes.
The SQL DBA has created another SQL server instance on the same box and wants
this backed up using TDP under a different node name.
How does the TDP licensing get calculated with this kind of scenario?
Also, Does TDP licensing get calculated for the passive node?

Your help will be really appreciated.

Thanks.

regards,

Ankur Patel.

Re: how can I know an archive finished

2010-03-31 Thread Patel, Ankur
Try this:

select date(start_time) as start_date, time(start_time) as start_time,
date(end_time) as end_date, time(end_time) as end_time, SUBSTR (CAST(entity AS
char(17)),1,17) as Node_Name, cast((Bytes/1024) as decimal(15,2)) as
KB_Archived, affected, (end_time-start_time)minutes as Mins from summary where

result looks like:

Node.

This problem is most likely caused because the register node was not
done correctly. In order for proxy authority to work, you must have as

admin node of Client Owner admin privilege for the DP/Exchange node.

This is normally done for you automatically when you issue the
 REGISTER NODE command.

However if something like this was used:
REGISTER NODE nodename password USERID=NONE then the admin node
 is not created.
This will cause the exact error you are seeing.
The PROXY code uses the Remote Client BA Client service...
which requires Client Owner admin privilege.

To solve this problem, you can delete the node and register it again
 correctly.

The steps to solve this problem are:

 1. On the TSM Server remove the DP/Exchange node:
REMOVE NODE USCOL2K3EXVS01

 2. On the TSM Server register the DP/Exchange node:
   REG NODE USCOL2K3EXVS01 password

 3. On the TSM Server create the proxy settings:
  GRANT PROXY TARGET=USCOL2K3EXVS01
 agent=USCOL2K3OF01,USCOL2K3EX01

 4. On the Exchange Server... to make sure the password is stored...
 enter
 this command:
  TDPEXCC QUERY TSM /TSMPASSWORD=password

 5. Retry the query

Re: TSM database size?

2008-08-28 Thread Patel, Ankur
Dinesh,

See if this helps.
Extract from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Tivoli_Storage_Manager
ITSM maintains a relational database (limit 534GB through ITSM v5.5) and
recovery log (aka transaction log, limit 13.5GB) for logging,
configuration, statistical information, and object metadata. DB pages
are always 4KB, and partitions every 4MB. Single row inserts only. On
average, 20GB of space is consumed for every 25 million objects. Shallow
directory structures utilize less TSM DB space than deeper paths. This
database may generally be queried via an emulated SQL-98 compliant
interface, or through undocumented SHOW, CREATE or DELETE commands.

Also, see IBM site:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0q1=Maximum+TSM+DB+Sizeui
d=swg21243509loc=en_AUcs=utf-8cc=aulang=en
The Administrator Guide manual specifies that the maximum size of the
database is 530GB. This is however a rounded figure. The actual maximum
size of the database is 543184 MB, which equates to about 530.5 GB.
