questions about TDP for Oracle
Hi all, We would like to setup RMAN on one box but Oracle DB on another box, RMAN box has 10M and DB box has Gigbit connection. How do we setup scheduler to backup? Re: TDP for Oracle on SUN
Hi Walter, I am not sure if this helps. We have a client who is using Solaris 7 and Oracle 8.1.5, they installed TDP 2.1. When they installed the required patches 106300 and 106327, the oracle was broken (I don't know what the error message is), then they installed other patches 106980-09 106541-09 109104-01 107544-02 and these patches fixed that problem. Re: schedule daemon and password
Thanks Joshua, Serge and Nick; The "Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle for UNIX Installation and User's Guide Version 2 Release 1" (SH26-4112-00) says the 'passwordaccess' MUST set to 'PROMPT' on page 20! Do you think that is wrong? Actually we have two different option files and do as Serge said except the 'passwordaccess'. I also tried to put the 'nohup' command in a file and run it and find out it is still shown the command when I issue 'ps -ef' command; I tried Nick's, the result is same as Joshua's: -- ps output 33450 pts/1 0:00 dsmc sched -password -optfile=dsm.opt - This is on an AIX system and out client says it shows the real password on their Solaris system!!!???. Re: client file's permission, created date, midified date?
Thanks Andy! Are there anyway to access the attributes? Which file it is in? Can you give me more details about this? Thank you very much. Phillip Guan -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Andy Raibeck Sent: Tuesday, September 12, 2000 5:35 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: client file's permission, created date, midified date? File attributes are not available via the tables (I guess you want to use the SELECT command to get this information). The attribute information is only available via the same kind of client you used to back up the file. That is, if you used the Windows client to back up a file, only the Windows client can get the file attributes. The TSM server is not aware of individual file attributes per se. While the server does store the attributes given to it by the client, but it does not kow how to interpret them, nor is there any way to get them in their "raw" (uninterpreted) format. backupset restore problem
Hi all, We want to test a Lan-free restore and had a problem to restore a backupset, here is the situation: HW: RS6000 43P SW: AIX 4.3.3 TSM server: TSM for AIX 3.7.3.6 TSM client: TSM for AIX 3.7.2.15 Tape drive: HP DLT40e, IBM DLT, 4MM tape ( all manual drives) We created a backupset and we can restore the backupset THROUGH server by: #dsmc restore backupset nodename backupsetname -loc=server but when we run (we tried HP DLT, IBM DLT and 4mm): #dsmc restore backupset /dev/rmt0 -loc=tape we got the following message: ANS1933E Error accessing file or device The TSM server and client are on the same machine. But even I shutdown the TSM server and delete related TSM tape drives, I still got that error message. We have been frustrated this for many days, any help will be great appreciated! cleaning cartridge for 3494 tape library
Hi all, We would like to checkin some cleaning cartridge to 3494 tape library. We put in four cleaning cartridges already through I/O station, do we need to run 'checkin' from TSM to check in them or check in from 3494 workstation? Or do nothing? 'mtlib -l /dev/lmcp0 -qI -v' shows no cleaning cartridge but 'mtlib -l /dev/lmcp0 -qL' shows 'avail 3590 cleaner cycles..398'. What does it mean? Thanks. HP DLT tape drive support for backupset restore
Hi all, I created a backupset successfully on HP DLT40e tape drive and can query the content on the tape, but I cannot restore the backupset from it. Our AIX level is 4.3.3.0, TSM server is 3.7.2 and the client is on the same box as server. I wonder if HP DLT40 is supported on TSM 3.7. Thanks a lot! Netware client
On a Netware client backing up to a TSM 3.7.3 Server we are getting quite a few of the following errors which are not showing up on our other Netware clients. The filesystem on this netware server is pretty full (5% free) but otherwise I can't say i see anything unusual. This error is pretty vague. Why is it failing? Does anyone have any ideas here?: ANS1228E Sending of object 'object-nameobject-nameobject-name' failed Explanation: The specified file (object-name) cannot be sent to the server. System Action: File skipped. User Response: Retry the operation. If the problem continues, see your system administrator to isolate the problem through use of the server console. Thanks. Phillip
NDS Backups
I'm not familiar with NDS at all but the question has been brought up on how TSM handles NDS particularly on other platforms? Can we back up NDS on NT? Sun? ETC? Thanks! Gerald Wichmann
