TSM 5.3 - A part of Domain
Hi, Please respond below query. We executes backup through Tivoli Storage Manager V5.3 (Windows based). We are planning to re-join existing TSM server to a new domain. We would like to know: What impact will it have if the existing TSM server rejoins another domain (in separate forest) Will it in anyway affect the backup process (integration with previous backups) Regards Pranav
ANS9201W LAN-free path failed.
Dear All, We have a Two Node W in2K Cluster with Exchange 2000 Database running in active-passive mode. The resource were at Node 2 and LAN-Free backup was running okay. However, due to some problem with Node2 , the resources were allocated to Nod1. After these LAN-Free is not working and fails with error: ANS9201W LAN-free path failed. DSMSTA is running okay and validate lan-free do validate the path. We tried using the same storage agent node that of Node 2 as well by creating a new one for Node1. But the result is same. Also tried defining server and paths manually. Please let me know how Lan-Free works in cluster environment. Regards Pranav
Proxy Node Scheduling
Hi, I am having a tough time configuring scheduler for the node which acts as a proxy to another one. For better understanding I would take an example where two nodes, Node A and Node B has been configured to backup approx. 750GB of File Server Data lying on SAN. Node B has been granted proxy authority to backup Node A data. Different Folders from same server is backed-up simultaneously on two different Gen3 fiber drives (TS3310) using Node A and proxy node NodeB. The actual problem comes only when we create two different schedules and associate with NodeA and B for backing up different folders on two drives simultaneously. Even though the scheduler services running on the client are different, both nodes starts same schedule instead of their individual one and backs-up same folder. These happens even if the schedule timing are different. Schedule logs shows identical schedule information i.e NodeB logs shows NodeA schedule information. Anticipating your valuable inputs. Regards Pranav
Re: TS3310 - Library Configuration - Help Required
Thanks all of your for valueable inputs. After replacing L2 media we were able to resolve this problem. Problem was the media itself. A TS3310 only supports LTO3 drives. LTO3 drives can not write to LTO1 media. Or, even if the tapes are LTO3 do they have LTO1 labels on them. TSM will see the L1 on the tape label and being that the LTO3 drives can't write to an L1 tape you can get the error no drives are available. TDP for SQL Large DB Restoration
Hi, We are facing peculiar problem and request help to resolve it on war-foot basis. We had a SQL DB running as a back-end to SAP in Win2k cluster. We are able to successfully backup of our on-line SQL DB of 180GB approx. using TDP For SQL 5.3 on the autoloader connected to TSM server on LAN everyday. However, restoring same fails with an error: ANR0481W Session 609 for node DBGRP (TDP MSSQL) terminated - client did not respond within 800 seconds. Restore process continue to format db for a long hours and then restore ends prematurely dismount the volume mounted in the drive. We have already increased committimeout option from various values to as large as 28800. Even at such high value, restore operation ends after 6 to 8 hrs of long wait. We are not sure what value we should use as a committimeout to restore approx. 180GB DB. Any help will be highly appreciated. Regards Pranav

If you really need to back up a client(s) that often with Tivoli, the way to do it is to create three separate schedules that run every hour and run 20 minutes apart. Then assign the client to all three schedules. For example: Start time Runs Schedule 1 09:00Hourly Schedule 2 09:20Hourly Schedule 3 09:40Hourly Please let me know if you need any additional info.
