hi Koen, yes we plan separate adapters for disk i/o and tape i/o. I known the problem to use disk i/O and tape i/o on the same host bus adapter. That's not the question. Nobody can clarify the statement! That's my problem. Planning new SAN
Hi list, i have a question about SAN design. We plan to connect a 3584 with lto2 units in a disk-san environment . There are enough ports to connect all units. But a cutomers describe a problem with tapeunits in one san (disk+tape). When he create new zonings or do changes in the san a remote state change notification for all components is send. When a backup is running on TSM the backup failes. The tapedrive becomes this rscn and do a fabric_logoff fabric_logon (not the right description) to update the new san-configuration. Have anybody seen or listen this problem ? Is that a real problem for mixed san components (disk+tape) for TSM? I have told ibm support for a answer but there are no recommandations to split a san or create two fabrics one for disk and one for tape devices. Quad 7 Library wrong Elementnumber ??
Hi, i have an old quad 7 Library with two dlt2000 drives connected with scsi to a w2k server. TSM-Serverversion 5.1.7.1. I see all mt and lb devices on w2k. I can define the Library with def libr and def path but i can't define the drives The error is anr8366e DEFINE DRIVE: Invalid value for ELEMENT parameter I have the deviceconfig sheet from the support site from ibm an there are the element adresse 28 and 29 for the two drives but no chance. Previous i have the tsmserverlevel 4.2.3.0 with the same problem. no activitylog after server restart with hacmp
Hi all, we have tsm integrated in a aix hacmp environment. aix 4.3.3, tsm server 5.1.6.4, Hacmp 4.4.?? After a graceful swop from one server to the other server the tsm-server starts but writes no activitylog. The last entry was halt from the old tsmserver process. I can do any queries but no entrys in the activitylog. After the swop i restart the tsmserver manuel and all entrys are right. The problem is repeatable. Is it a security problem for the scripts ?? Restore old Data via gui
Good day, we have here some problems with the gui restore. TSM-Client 4.2.3 TSM-Sever 4.2.3.0 both AIX 4.3.3 We want restore old data from another node backuped with ADSM-Version 3.1.6.0 With the commandline we see the data. We use: dsmc restore -pick -ina -virtualnode=nodename -se=servername filespacename everything is ok. This are the steps we do with the gui: I am root!! 1. dsm 2. Login 3. From the menuebar File-Login change the nodename userid and Password 3. The connectioninformation looks ok. The new node ist loged in. 4. Open the restore windows- change the active/inactive state. 5. Go down to the file level and i saw nothing Other way. I put the nodename with the old data to the dsm.sys file. Start dsm- login with the right password. Do restore - change active/inactive The same result in the gui NOTHING With the commandline everything is ok. Problem with SCSI-Fibr (Pathlight) Only Information
Hi folks, we have found a bug in the tsm device driver. Our configuration are: aix 4.3.3 with fibre-channel adapter DISC Jukebox 525 with SONY F561 Worm Drives (SCSI) We connect the aix and the jukebox with a PATHLIGHT bridge. (fibre to scsi) The problem ist the Pathlight bridge support online 2K blocks (for optical device) The tsm device driver send dynamic blocks with 4K size. We have done a backup an no error are reported. When we do a audit vol on the media many errors are reported in the actlivitylog A trace from the devicedrive says. Hey i have send 4K and have a rest from the block but the returncode is null No error was reportet We can't restore the files. Now we have a firmwareupdate from Pathlight for 4K support and a new devicedriver. Now everything is right. When anybody have a similar configuration. Check your worm/data !!
