Directory Path Not Found
Just over two weeks ago one of our netware servers (5.1 sp5) stopped backed up. I have rebooted the server. Upgraded to TSM 5.1.6, upgrated the netware tsa files to version 12 and brought them to all levels down to 9 and still get the same errors as shown below. Any ideas? 08/29/2003 16:41:11 ANS1076E *** Directory path not found *** 08/29/2003 16:41:24 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 16:41:24 ANS1076E *** Directory path not found *** 08/29/2003 16:41:24 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 16:41:24 ANS1076E *** Directory path not found *** 08/29/2003 16:41:25 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 307) A file cannot be opened. 08/29/2003 16:41:26 ANS1228E Sending of object 'Server Specific Info/Server Specific Info' failed 08/29/2003 16:41:26 ANS4007E Error processing 'Server Specific Info/Server Specific Info': access to the object is denied 08/29/2003 16:41:26 ANS1802E Incremental backup of 'Server Specific Info/Server Specific Info' finished with 1 failure 08/29/2003 16:52:25 ANS1076E *** Directory path not found *** 08/29/2003 16:54:03 ANS1076E *** Directory path not found *** 08/29/2003 16:58:06 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 16:58:06 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 16:58:14 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 16:58:16 ANS4024E Error processing 'APPS:': file write error 08/29/2003 16:58:41 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 16:58:43 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 16:58:44 ANS4024E Error processing 'APPS:': file write error 08/29/2003 16:59:25 ANS1107E Invalid option/value: '-subdir' 08/29/2003 17:00:08 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 17:00:11 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 17:00:11 (TSA500.NLM 5.5 259) This program cannot allocate a directory handle. 08/29/2003 17:00:11 PrivIncrFileSpace: Received rc=165 from fioGetDirEntries: APPS: 08/29/2003 17:00:13 ANS4024E Error processing 'APPS:': file write error At this point I do not know if it is a Novell, TSM or some other problem and I'm hesitatnt to do much more without physical access to the server.
Netware - NDS - Restoring NDS in case of extreme loss
I've been asked by our NDS expert, if TSM backs up the netware hidden directory. Apparently it doesn't as I've watched TSM backup the NDS and it backups the individual NDS objects. Has anyone had to do a complete restore of a netware box, including NDS? Did it work, what steps did you take as the backup/archive manual for netware is lacking this kind of information
query inclexcl
On Unix and Netware you can issue the TSM command query inclexcl to get a listing of the files/directories that are being included/excluded to see if your dsm.opt/sys file is set up correctly. This command does not work in NT. Does any one know of a comparable command from the TSM NT command line interface?? Thanks, Stormy Maddux
TSM Client Hangs
We have one Netware TSM client that normally takes between 2 and 3 hours. Yesterday, it indicated a normal backup of a file 2:20 and hung for almost 6 hours. The TSM Server did not show a connection. Using Q to quit did not clear the TSM session. 03/05/2002 02:29:01 Normal File--29,411,328 SHARED:/VOC_REHAB/VRS_1/PEACHW/VRSWORKC/SORTJOB.DAT [Sent] 03/05/2002 02:29:01 Normal File--38,912 SHARED:/VOC_REHAB/VRS_1/PEACHW/VRSWORKC/TEMPLATE.DAT [Sent] 03/05/2002 02:29:01 Normal File-- 6,692 SHARED:/VOC_REHAB/VRS_1/VRS_DATA/ARUNEE.H/LOTUS/PAGER.WK4 [Sent] 03/05/2002 02:29:01 Normal File--27,136 SHARED:/VOC_REHAB/VRS_1/VRS_DATA/Hallie F/file requests.xls [Sent] 03/05/2002 02:29:03 Normal File-- 318,976 SHARED:/VOC_REHAB/VRS_1/VRS_DATA/Hallie F/MH Client Log FY 2001 2002.xls [Sent] 03/05/2002 02:29:04 Normal File-- 167,936 SHARED:/VOC_REHAB/VRS_1/VRS_DATA/Hallie F/Situational Assessment Utilization Report 2001-2002.xls [Sent] 03/05/2002 08:02:49 Press 'Q' to end operation, any other key to continue. Even when you pressed Q it did not release. the server had to be re-booted. I had wondered if it was related to the length of the path/filename being backed up. Any ideas?? Thanks, Stormy Maddux
reclaim space from backups
One of our client nodes was set up incorrectly. A datawarehouse was backing up 130 GB nightly instead of monthly. Is there a way of deleting individual backup sets (i.e. last night's, last week's, etc.) like you can with deleting archive data, or is the only option to remove the filespace and start from scratch?? Thanks, Stormy Maddux
preschedulecmd and a wait period
One of our servers has several large Oracle database and although they run a preschedulecmd from the dsm.opt to shut down, by the time the dbstop command is run and the backup starts, some of the databases are still not shut down, the datafiles are shown in use and tried multiple times. Are there inherent ofsets in the pre and post schedule command executions? Is there anyway to build in a wait along with the scheduled command?? Thanks, Stormy Maddux
TSM Service failed during startup - Event ID 7022
On several of our NT and Win2K machines, with the 4.2.1.20 or 4.2.1 or 4.2.0 TSM client you get an error on startup/reboot At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use EvenViewer to examine the event log for details. The Event Log shows: Event ID: 7022 Source: Service Control Manager Type: Error Description: The TSM Central Scheduler Service hung on starting Even though the pop up error showed failed, and the event log showed hung, the service shows started and the schedule appears to run normally. On one NT Server, in order not to get the error, we had to install Version 3 of the client. Any ideas? Stormy Maddux
Netware Client Password failure
I have three TSM 4.2.1 Netware 5.0 clients that won't perform a scheduled backup. Normally when you first setup the client and register the node, the first time it prompts you to enter the Netware ID password for the backup and stores the files. These three won't store the password. Every time you run a manual incremental or a scheduled backup, you get prompted. The error shows as: 11/21/2001 19:36:57 ANS1880E TSA Connect error, NWSMConnectToTargetService 'CTRL3' password file 'CTRL3\SYS:TIVOLI/TSM/CLIENT/BA/TSM.PWD'. Userid = 'adsm_support' failed with cc = FFFDFFD7 When you try a manual backup, the dsmerror.log writes the same thing, and on the screen you are prompted for the id pw again. The TSM.PWD file gets updated with the same date and time. The DSM.opt file is set for passwordaccess generate and nwpwfile is set to yes. Any ideas??
