Formatting SQL select statement output

Formatting SQL select statement output
How do I change the output of the column width in a select statement?
Below is a select statement I am currently working on and would like to
expand the message column to something wider than the default 18 chr.

Ok, how many people in their typing don't hit the "q" key hard enough and
rather than a "q pr" they issue a "pr" and the #@$%^ PREPARE initiates ! !

sorry about that, I'll go take my thorazine now...

Re: Off-Site copies??

2000-10-12 Thread Tomblin, David

Yes. Coping from diskpool to an offsite tape pool works and works well on
systems with few tape drives. With only one tape drive there is one
concerns. Diskpool migration can not start before the offsite copy. If it
does, the data migrated to tape will not be available on the diskpool for
the offsite tapes. I am going to assume there is a way to move the previous
migrated data back to the diskpool, but that is beyond my abilities.

how to generate Off-Site Copies off the entire TSM-Client Content whith just
one drive?

we backup all clients during the night to the TSM Disk-Storage Pool which
will
later the day migrated to the Tape Storage Pool. The question is, can I with
a
"Backup Stgpool Diskpool Offsitepool" (Offsitepool is a Tape Storage Pool)
before the data is being migrated, backup the complete Content of the
clients(at least for active Versions)? Does TSM keep track of the valid data
in
the offsitepool so that I can manage the export und import of tapes to
Offsite-Location?

has anybody tried something like this before?

thank for any help

Thank You
I'm sure that's it. The previous command was a "select status, count(*) as
"Tape Count" from libvolumes where LIBRARY_NAME = 'LIB3' group by status",
and we are running a older version here.

You didn't tell us your server level, but this might be the
"select ... group by" problem (APAR IY07006) fixed in 3.7.

Re: Exchange Agent Scheduler

2000-11-20 Thread Tomblin, David

When the Exchange agent is installed it replaces the old adsmv3.dll (566KB )
with its adsmv3.dll ( 472KB ). With this dll in place dsmcutil errors out.
If you place the old adsmv3.dll back in the system32 directory, the dsmcutil
will work.

Bill,

Is DSMCUTIL failing with that error?
If I recall this might be an issue with a mix-match
in the installed TSM API version vs. the base client (DSMCUTIL) version.
You may have to get a 3.1.0.8 version of the adsmv3.dll
and put it into the directory with DSMCUTIL.EXE.

Thanks,

I have installed the Exchange Agent on our mail server with the newest
version (1.1.1.01) and have been able to successfully do manual backups.
The problem that I am having is that I cannot get the additional scheduler
service loaded. When I try to install it I get the following error
message:

"The ordinal 28 could not be located in the dynamic link library
adsmv3.dll"

This is on Windows NT 4.0 SP 5, Exchange Server 5.5 SP2, and ADSM Client
3.1.08. I would appreciate getting a direct cc: to any replies as I get
the
digest version. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Re: Novell restore prob: unable to allocate directory handle?

2000-11-29 Thread Tomblin, David

Unable to allocate directory handle is just Novell way of saying you don't
have rights to do that.
Most likely cause, smdr.nlm has a bad copy of the DS

Exit out of any dsmc.nlm that is running

unload dsmcad
unload tsands
unload tsa500
unload smdr
load smdr
load tsa500
load tsands
load sys:adsm\dsmc sched
load sys:adsm\dsmc
load sys:adsm\dsmcad

Re: NetWare Client abends

If you do not need the Macintosh file space, remove it with vrepair. That
file space doubles the NetWare directory space needed and it has caused
similar problem for us.

Subject: Netware Client abends

We have the following config:

TSM Server 3.7.4.0 on AIX 4.3.3

Netware Client 4.1.0.0 on Netware 5.0 SP5
Hardware:
IBM Netfinity 7000, model 8651-RM0
768 MB RAM
IBM ServeRAID II, 6 - 9GB HD's, RAID5 w/HS

We Use TCPIP commmethod.

Partial output of VOLUME command:
Mounted Volumes Name Spaces Flags
SYS DOS, LONG
Cp Sa
VOL1 DOS, MAC, NFS, LONG NSS

This client was on 3.7.2.11 of TSM and had the same problem.

Doing an INC backup on a daily prompted schedule it will abend about every
2nd or 3rd day. Below is one of the Abend log entries. The abend is always
the same. I am fairly new here and have started working out existing
problems, like this one.

This Client is working as a file server. It is backing up VOL1:/users when
it abends. It appears to always to abend in the S or T area (User names
alphabetically). At this point it has examined about 400,000 files.

I did a SEL backup with just one users directory that seemd to have a
problem. It abended after about 7,000 files as follows:
?---
---
Normal File - 10,278,912
VOL1:/Users/TSANDERS/remdrept/RemedyLinkForPalm/Setup/Remedy/PalmLink/aix/re
mlink.tar [Sent]

(TSA500.NLM 5.3 313) A file cannot be read.

?---
-

I then did a SEL narrowing directory path smaller and it worked without
error. I did search of Tivoli Knowledge Base on TSA500 and several other
searches and one TSA500 entry was sort of like ours but solution we have
already implemented.

A disk scan has been done by our Netware Admin and had no problem. We have
other Netware boxes with 3.1 amd 3.7 clients and they work without error.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
