Re: OpenAFS backup using TSM via XBSA - procedure for compiling
Hi, The following URL http://www.berningeronline.net/docstacks/HTML/relnotes/tsmbackup.html contains some info. Regarding OpenAFS support for TSM hope it is useful Regards, Nitin Ubhayakar ( 3989111 x 69182 * [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Loni Ly Sent: Tuesday, June 08, 2004 3:26 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: OpenAFS backup using TSM via XBSA - procedure for compiling Currently, we are running OpenAFS on Redhat Linux 7.2 (AS) and looking for a backup solution using IBM TSM. After reading from mail-archive there appears to be a way to compile OpenAFS with TSM XBSA (X-open-api) so that the OpenAFS butc can communicate with TSM. Looking for a procedure on how to compile XBSA and what to compile? Please suggest any other backup methods you are successfully using with OpenAFS on Linux. Example, how has TIBS worked for you? Try dsmcutil showpw /node:nodename You should be able to figure out the problem using that command and the others from dsmcutil help. I have stopped the scheduler, changed the password from TSM server for the node, removed the scheduler using the client setup wizard, reinstalled it and still get the same error. The event viewer prompts me to look in dsierror.log: Error Initializing TSM Api, unable to verify Registry Password, see dsierror.log. dsierror.log gives me the following error: 01/26/2004 17:13:38 sessOpen: Error 137 from signon authentication. When I start-up the client BA gui I login without problems. Any ideas ? Yiannakis
MAGSTAR tapes
Hi TSMers, We need to send some tapes (3590E) offsite, outside the country, and there is a good possibility that the tapes will undergo X-ray checks while en-route. Can anybody advice whether we can take any precautions to safeguard against accidental damage of the tapes ? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Re: Tape question
Hi, i tried a variation of your SQL, viz. select node_name, filespace_name from volumeusage where volume_name='' - i ran this query on a volume containing objects from a remote server. it worked fine, but before giving the result, it came back with a TSM prompt saying : This SQL query might generate a big table, or take a long time. Do you wish to continue ? Y/N i want to run this SQL in a batch file for many similar volumes, is there any way i can suppress the above-mentioned TSM prompt ? -Original Message- From: Peter Ford [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tue, February 11, 2003 8:20 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Tape question -Original Message- From: Remeta, Mark [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2003 9:14 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Tape question I know this has been covered before but I can't find it. Does anyone have a sql query that will tell me what tapes a particular nodes particular archive is on? select volume_name,filespace_name from volumeusage where node_name='NODE NAME' Throwing in the file space name allows you to see what specific file space is stored on each tape. Local copypool policies
Hi TSMers, we have two TSMs across which we have a Server-to-server implementation, and we are using this setup to backup our primary tape storage pools across each other. Now, we plan to create extra local backup pools on each TSM (i.e., local backup of its own primary tape storage pool) for purpose of taking the tapes offsite. in this scenario, could anybody please tell me if it is possible to have different backup policies on the local backup pool ? i.e. policies different from those on the primary tape storage pools. and if so, can this be done without using up another additional TSM client license for each client ?
