Exchange 2007

2007-10-15 Thread Verhelst, Luc
Hi all,

We are currently testing the backup of an Exchange Cluster 2007 that is
running on a Windows 2003 server R2.

In order to backup the Exchange we need to make sure that the
command is working and that is not the case.

Has anyone of you see this error:

C:\Program Files

VSHADOW.EXE 2.2 - Volume Shadow Copy sample client

(Option: Create shadow copy set)

(Gathering writer metadata...)

(Waiting for the asynchronous operation to finish...)

Error during the last asynchronous operation.

- Returned HRESULT = 0x80042318

- Error text: VSS_E_WRITER_INFRASTRUCTURE

- Please re-run VSHADOW.EXE with the /tracing option to get more details

It's the intention that in the future we will install TSM 5.5 that will
backup Exchange 2007. Release Q4 2007.

Migration to new server and LAN-free backup

2007-10-11 Thread Verhelst, Luc
Hi all,

We currently have TSM 5.2 running on a standalone IBM server (7028-6C4/
OS: AIX 5200-02). We need to migrate to a new LPAR on our P590 that
runs on OS: 5300-05-CSP.

We plan to install TSM 5.4 and use LAN free backup instead of LAN
backup. Has anyone of you done this migration in the past and if so is
there procedure available.

The problem is that we have only 1 robot (IBM 3584/ 10 LTO 3 drives)
that is currently used on the old server, so testing will not be that
easy.

Luc

Hi Luc,

The answer to your question is "yes". :-)

If you would like help with this, please provide the details of your
implementation and results, including (but not limited to) detailed
schedule definition, script, dsmerror.log, dsmsched.log, how the script
is being launched (hopefully in the schedule definition), etc.

Start vbs script with TSM

2007-01-18 Thread Verhelst, Luc
Hi all,

On our unix systems we are scheduling our backups with the TSM scheduler
that works fine. On our Windows systems we have created some vbs
scripts that we want to start with the TSM scheduler however it doesn't
work.

According to the schedule log the script starts and give a rc 0, but
nothing happens. We want to kickoff a SAP backup.

Has anyone of you faced the same problem?

GENERICTAPE

2006-02-10 Thread Verhelst, Luc
Hi all,

I currently have a IBM 3583 taperobot (with LTO1 drives) to do my TSM backups.
I did a test this week to replace this 3583 by a 3584 with LTO3 drives.
I checkout out the tapes, removed the paths to the drives, removed the drives
and the library.
I recabled the fiber to the 3584. Load the latest Atape driver and set up the
zoning.

Everything went well, when I ran the cfgmgr I saw the tapes and the library on
my AIX OS platform.
Defined the new library in TSM, changed the library name in the device
class;created the drives and the paths to the drives again.

When I did this the drives were created like this:
Library Name Drive Name Device Type On-Line
---
---
3584_LIB DRIVE0 GENERICTAPE Yes
3584_LIB DRIVE1 GENERICTAPE Yes
3584_LIB DRIVE2 GENERICTAPE Yes
3584_LIB DRIVE3 GENERICTAPE Yes

Normally the device type should be LTO as defined in device class. I could
agree if this would have happened if I didn't load the correct device
driver but this is not the case.

Any of you had the same problem?

Regards
Luc

size allocation error

2004-07-26 Thread Verhelst, Luc
Hi all,

I get the following warning error in my activity log:

ANR1339W Session 10931 underestimated a size allocation
request - 35MB more space was allocated to allow the
  operation to continue. (SESSION: 10931)

I get this error when I archive data to a diskpool.

I'm running a ITSM server 5.2.2.0 on an IBM AIX platform. My client version is also
5.2.2.0.

In the help doc it says I need to upgrade the client version. (see below)

System Action: None, the operation was able to continue.

User Response: The installed version of the client for this node should be
evaluated. In most cases, if a client has underestimated the sizes of files
reported to the server, this may have been corrected in a newer version of
the client. If this is an application using the TSM API that is not an IBM
product, contact the vendor for the application to have this corrected.

It says it "may" solve my problem if I upgrade to a newer version.

Has onyone of you experienced the same problems and has an upgrade solved the problem.
Thanks for your info.
