Actually correct syntax is: exclude.dir *:\...\logcaster Note that there should be no terminating slash at the end of the specification. Re: Exclude.dir statements
From: Dearman, Richard [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] If I use: Exclude*:\...\logcaster\...\* Will that exclude subdirectories as well within the logcaster directory. I want to exclude everything under logcaster including files and subdirectories It will not. However, you commented that you were trying to rid yourself of file backups that failed (for whatever reason). *That*, the statement will do. Besides, if you have to restore the entire filespace, you may *want* to be able to restore directory structure. -- Mark Stapleton ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
Re: Exclude.dir statements
In addition to the recommendations of others... 1. You didn't give us the context of the "not working": if the backups involve client schedules, make sure that you restart those processes, to pick up the new client specs. 2. Always do 'dsmc query inclexcl' after making such a change, to assure that all specs are present as desired (and that the client is happy with them). Richard Sims, BU
