Re: Good ole error

2000-11-29 Thread Loon, E.J. van - SPLXM

Hi Joel!
I found two solutions for your problem in the ADSM-L archives. I personally
used the second one and it definitely works, but it requires "hacking" the
registry.

METHOD 1:
From the ..\adsm\baclient\ subdir, issue the commands:
1. unlodctr "ADSM Client Performance"
2. lodctr perfctr.ini

METHOD 2:
1)At the \adsm\baclient directory, issue the following command:
unlodctr "ADSM Client Performance"
2)Open up REGEDIT
3)Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\
ADSM CLIENT PERFORMANCE\PERFORMANCE and delete the following string:
OPEN "OpenADSMPerfData"

Subject: Good ole error

I have a few clients that recently had the new 4.1.1.16 client for Windows
NT
installed.
They've never had another client on them.

Some are running without errors, but several (2 of 20) are getting an error
from
a long time ago:

"The library file ""dsmcperf.dll"" specified for the "TSM Client
Performance"
service could not be opened. Performance data for this service will not be
available. Status code is data DWORD 0. " is appearing in the Application
Event
Log.

The old problem reports on this identified it only with a few client
versions
which I thought were corrected. Also, the error was identified as missing
registry entries. I've checked "well" and "sick" clients and the registry
section similar to the old APARs description was identical.

Has anyone else had these problems? The clients are NT4 SP4, but I have
other
clients of the same OS/SP working just fine.

I don't want to hack the registry and I'm getting complaints from the owners
who
are seeing an log record every 2 minutes.

Thanks,
Joel Cooper

Funny you should mention that. I just noticed the same thing on some
machines around here also.
