Re: How to checkin tapes from I/O-station?
You can also check the scanner speed. On Storwatch, menu entry Service, Scanner Speed. You can adjust it from 30% to 100%. If you have problems to read barcodes, adjust it at a low value. Re: How to checkin tapes from I/O-station?
The checkin will work with search=bulk but it will have prompted you and you needed to reply, q req will show prompts and if you then issue reply (number) it will go, alternatively you can put waitt=0 on the end to stop it prompting (presuming you have TSM 5.3). Re: How to checkin tapes from I/O-station?
Bjorn, If you want to checkin all of the tapes in the IO station, issue the following command: Label libv 3584 search=bulk labels=barcode checkin=scratch {waitt=0 overwrite=yes} If the tapes were labelled already in TSM, the option overwrite=yes is required. If the option waittime is not known yet in your version of the TSM server (always good to mention it), ask the request-id (q req) on the command line and reply it afterwards (reply ). And last but not least, the command must be given from a TSM Admin command line (TSM: >YOUR_SERVER_NAME) , the commands below are given at the backup client command-line. Re: Converting I/O station into regular slots
WHen I added capacity to a 3583 library I had to reboot the WIn2k server itself to get the change recognized in TSM. I tried just restarting TSM, but I think it was more of a SCSI/driver issue. After the reboot of the Win2k server, TSM recognized the new slots. Mi advise is not to install a 3494 without the convenience I/O station. Re: I/O Station
Saad, The optional Convenience Input/Output Station feature is available for inserting or ejecting cartridges without interrupting the normal automated operations. You have three options: 1) No Convenience Input/Output Station 2) A 10-cartridge Convenience Input/Output Station feature (reduces the overall library cartridge capacity by 30 cartridges). 3) A 30-cartridge Convenience Input/Output Station feature (reduces the overall library cartridge capacity by 80 cartridges). The best manual for yr case is the following: Title: Magstar 3494 Tape Library Introduction and Planning Guide Document Number: GA32-0279-11 My recommendation is: If you have off-site and DR requirements functions in a daily basis then you need at least the 10-cartridge I/O Station. The 3494 library can grow really big... I don't know yr installation but if you have a large 3494 installation with frequent tape I/Os then you should consider the 30-cartridge I/O Station. Good Luck. Othonas Saad Al-Sakran wrote: > Hi...All > we are planning to have Magstar Tape library 3494.
