Hey! I think that I know what's your problem!!! See the parameter maximum
number of mountpints (MAXNUMMP) in the client node attributes. Much
problably it is with the default value that is 2, change to 4 or 5.

Re: Migration proccess issue

2004-01-07 Thread Bill Boyer
The image backup is a single OBJECT to TSM. That's why you only see 1
migration task even if you have MIGPRO set to a higher value. I believe that
a migration task will handle ALL the objects for a node. You won't get
multiple migration tasks if there's only data for 1 node in the storage
pool.

Try sending the image direct to tape...

So see the parameter migration process (migprocess) in the stgpool. If the

Hi Abdulaziz!
Like mentioned earlier, the only way to have TSM start multiple migration
processes for a diskpool with data of only one node is to turn on
collocation on filespace level for this diskpool.

Re: Migration proccess issue

2004-01-06 Thread Prather, Wanda
I believe you can do that by turning on collocation by filespace in the
storage pool.
That will cause TSM to send each filespace from that client to a different
tape.

It will do the same thing for the other clients, however; so you might end
up assigning this client to a separate domain and storage pool, if you have
a lot of clients.

Re: Migration proccess issue

2004-01-06 Thread Karel Bos
Hi,

No. Migration works be starting a process per node having the most data in a
diskpool. Work arounds:
- creating extra diskpools and plitting data by using multiple management
classes and including dirs/file types across these management classes
(complex).
- creating multiple TSM nodes per server and do part of the server per TSM
node (less complex);
- using a tuned maxsize on the diskpool to have the larger/largest object of
that node go directly to tape, bypassing the diskpool.

Karel

Onderwerp: Migration proccess issue

Hi Guys,

I have TSM 5.1.5 and 4 tape drives on 3494 tape library
I configured the migration proccess to start with 4 migration proccesses and
it is working fine.
the problem is i noteced that there is only one migration proccess when the
disk pool has data of one node.
is there any way that i can make the migration proccess to start with 4
proccesses when it is triggered although the disk pool has only data of one
node?
( the disk pool has alot of file spaces of one node ).

Best Regards,
Abdulaziz
