TSM Client 4.2.1 Novell 5.1 Let's say I want to backup a container in the NDS what is the correct syntax? I tried this i nds:0=org.ou=suborg.* It seemed to work as I got 13 files backed up. I i tried to restore like this restore nds:o=org.ou=suborg.cn=test I get files doesn't exist. I also don't see the NDS objects through the web client, altough if I do a QUERY BACKUP NDS: I get the list of objects inlcuding the "test" one. What am I doing wrong? NDS backups w/5.1.5
A followup on the problems with NDS with the all-local command (we're talking Netware here). APAR IC34798 has been issued on this. The work around is to include the colon after the NDS specification. i.e: DOMAIN ALL-LOCAL NDS: works. Now, on to configuring for a cluster! -- Jim Kirkman AIS - Systems UNC-Chapel Hill 966-5884
Re: NDS backups
These are NDS objects. We get exactly the same issue showing when ours gets backed up, even tho we know for a fact that the size of the files is much smaller. We put it down to a quirk in ADSM. By the way, we do NOT trust the ADSM NDS backups as a restore-able backup. All our NDS backups are done to a seperate tape for safety reasons (as in, ADSM failing to restore NDS on more then one occassion claiming it didn't have rights when it did). NDS backups
My network guy was monitoring a backup and asked me if the number that appears after the" Normal File-->" is the size of the file being backed up. It appears all of these files are the same size and he is telling me they shouldn't be very large. Could TSM be using up space unnecessarily? This is a Netware 4.11 server with TSM 3.7.1 on it. Can someone give me some information? NDS Backups
I'm not familiar with NDS at all but the question has been brought up on how TSM handles NDS particularly on other platforms? Can we back up NDS on NT? Sun? ETC? Thanks! Gerald Wichmann
