Re: Backup and restore of NDS on Netware
I looked at our new 4.2 install and sure enough there was ntwback.htm. It seems to have some good info, our Netware Admin is looking at it. I never think of looking at these docs other than the READEME's. The PDF doc for Netware didn't seem to have any detail info. We have had a couple of instances where we restored SYS: but never had to restore NDS. It would seem we only have to backup NDS on certain servers, not all. Has someone some experience in this area? Re: Backup and restore of NDS on Netware
If the session is active on the TSM server, cancel it there first, then you should be able to unload it on the Netware box. If there is no session on the TSM server, the only way we have been able to correct this is with a reboot. You shouldn't have numerous instances of this, if you do, you should look at upgrading your client software. -Original Message- From: William Rosette [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, March 05, 2002 4:25 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Backup and restore of NDS on Netware Is there an easier way of rebouncing the dsmc sched scheduler on Netware without having to reboot the machine? Re: Backup and restore of NDS on Netware
David, Are you asking how to best backup your NDS structure? You are correct, you only need to back up NDS from selected servers. We have a primary NDS box and a couple that hold replicas of the domain. Luckily we have never had to restore that structure, our testing has been successfull but painfully slow. So, pick a few servers and put the domain all-local NDS statement in the option file. The Netware admins are responsible for keeping enough valid copies of the tree around.
