Re: Node will not delete?!?

2005-07-20 Thread Andrew Raibeck
Hi Joni,

Actually if you run HELP ANR2339E (or just HELP 2339), you'll see that
this message is indeed specific to backup sets. In general, when you get
an error message that you don't understand, using the HELP is a good idea.
  :-)

OK... just to reset...

What does the output of these commands show (copy & paste, please):

- QUERY FILESPACE
- QUERY BACKUPSET
- REMOVE NODE

In answer to your other question: if you review the reference info for
DELETE VOLHISTORY (HELP DELETE VOLHISTORY), you'll see that it is not
recommended to use that command to delete backup sets. Rather, use DELETE
BACKUPSET.

Best regards,

Andy

Do a "q file" as it will show the filespaces that TSM knows about, but has
not necessarily backed up. Once you delete the remaining filespaces, you
can remove the node.

Interesting problem. APAR IC39957 may pertain. Life with defects...
Some things I would try:
  - Attempt 'dsmc del fi' from the client, and choose it by number, and
see
if that makes it go away.
  - Do 'SELECT * FROM VOLUMEUSAGE WHERE NODE_NAME='NODE13'
and if that reveals any volumes, try deleting those first.
In the future, do not name nodes with '13' in the name. ;-)

Re: Node will not delete

2004-09-29 Thread fred johanson
Joni,
I had a similar problem on an earlier level of 5.1. First thing to try is
an audit of the stgpool, either "aud vol" if on tape, or "dsmserv audit
diskstg" (check the manual for correct spelling) if on disk. If you have
to do it on a disk pool, drain it first, and the audit will fly. If that
doesn't work, support can step you thru the deletion commands for the DB.

There is likely a filespace the node knows about but has not
backed up, (hence the no occupancy).

Run a "delete file node13 *" and then you should be able to

Re: Node will not delete

2004-09-29 Thread Joni Moyer
Hi!

The name of the server is node13.

q occ node13
Results: ANR2034E QUERY OCCUPANCY: No match found using this criteria.

q filespace node13
Results:
Node Name Filespace FSID Platform FilespaceIs Capacity
Pct
Name Type Filespace (MB)
Util
Unicode?
--- --- - -
-
NODE13 /usr 2 AIX JFS No984.0
93.7

When I tried to delete the node I received the following message:

 Operation Results

ANR2152E REMOVE NODE: Inventory references still exist for node NODE13.

I tried to remove the node through the GUI, but it didn't work... I
couldn't think of any other info. that might be needed. This is on a TSM
5.1.8.3 server on the mainframe and the client is an AIX server.

Thanks again!
