Re: SAN - FC Adapters doubt ...
The problem with the Emerald III based FC cards from JNI is that they do not support the FC-Tape protocol. Their new Emerald IV based FC cards do support FC-Tape. - Original Message - From: "Walker, Lesley R" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2001 4:32 PM Subject: Re: SAN - FC Adapters doubt ... > I have two FC64-1063 cards in an E4500, connecting to an EMC array. Re: SAN - FC Adapters doubt ...
Alexandre, I had a similar problem with a client I am working with and I spoke with IBM and found that they have just certified an EMULEX LP8000S (Sbus version) card. In my case I am working with the 3584 Ultrium Library - but this same card might help in your situation. Re: SAN - FC Adapters doubt ...
I have two FC64-1063 cards in an E4500, connecting to an EMC array. I installed the driver supplied by EMC (fcaw259). At this moment I'm not actually sure whether it's connected direct or through a switch - sounds nuts, I know, but the server isn't in production yet, and the SAN stuff is being arranged by other people. -Original Message- From: Alexandre Bicas Caldeira [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 5:52 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: SAN - FC Adapters doubt ... Hi guys, I'm trying to set up a SAN using two IBM 2109-S16 FC Switch, six TSM Servers and a 3494 with 10 3590E drives Four TSM Servers are running smooth (1 M80, 2 Dell with FC Qlogic 2200, 1 SUN450 with FC Qlogic 2200). All of then are PCI Servers. I have two other servers (E3500 and a E1) that are SBUS Servers. Acording to Tivoli web site, all FC Adapters supported in this configuration are PCI ! ! ! Both SBUS Servers have an JNI FC64-1063 FC Adapter which is simillar do JNI FCI-1063 (the PCI Version which is supported)... The FC adapter establishes link to the 2109-S16 (steady green light) but it doesn't find any tape devices... Is anyone using these kind of FC adapters with SAN ? Is there any special firware or device driver that should be installed in these sun boxes in order to put these cards to work ? I updated the switch's firmware do level 2.2.1a but I had no luck... The IBM 2109-S16 is simillar to a Brocade Switch which is used by EMC... These FC64-1063 adapter is the one that is used by most of the SBUS Servers... EMC guys, any tips ?! Thanks you all !
